Yulhee Shares Painful Struggles and Desire to Reunite with Her Children After Divorce

Yulhee, former member of girl group Laboum, recently opened up on a variety show about her difficult journey following her divorce from FTISLAND’s Choi Minhwan. She revealed her struggles, her worries as a mother, and her hope to bring her children back into her care.

Yulhee Reflects on Difficult Decision to Speak Out

“When I filmed before, I wanted to hide some and tell some parts. I needed time to adjust by myself. Now, I can comfortably tell the stories I wanted to tell.”

Yulhee shared that her struggles began a year before the divorce, explaining that the relationship had reached a point where staying together felt impossible. Despite her efforts to endure for the sake of her children, the impact on her well-being became overwhelming. Due to financial constraints for both her family and in-laws, she eventually decided to give custody of her children to Choi Minhwan.

“I was sad to see that the people’s image of me differed from my actual life as a mother. I decided to appear on the show to show that I have never abandoned my responsibilities as a mother and that I have never abandoned my children.”

Yulhee also explained why she ultimately exposed her ex-husband’s behavior, including alleged visits to brothels. She shared that during her initial years after giving up custody, she felt emotionally unprepared and struggled to make clear-headed decisions.

“I didn’t want to talk about this even now. I did not want to expose it more than anyone else. It was hard the first year after I gave up custody. I didn’t have time to think rationally, and I couldn’t look at everything because I didn’t know anything about divorce. I was miserable and unstable and felt so small.”

Yulhee’s Determination to Reunite with Her Children

Despite the challenges she has faced, Yulhee expressed her strong desire to reunite with her children and her plans to work toward this goal:

“I’m trying to get everything back to normal. I want to try and resolve things well without fighting, but I think it’s better than not trying. I didn’t even try a year ago. Even though it may take a long time, I want to bring my kids home.”
