Ailee, the beloved K-Pop soloist, recently opened up about her engagement to Choi Si Hoon, known from the reality show “Single’s Inferno”, during her appearance on the JohnMaat YouTube channel’s “BYOB” series. The episode provided fans with an intimate look at how the couple’s romance blossomed from friendship into a committed relationship.
Ailee revealed that she was initially saddened by not being able to announce their relationship on her terms. However, on the show, she shared that their connection started as a simple friendship, which unexpectedly turned romantic. She explained, “We met through a friend. We weren’t even interested in each other at that time. We were just hanging out. But the more I got to talk to him… I realized what a good person he was.”
When asked about the moment they realized their feelings, Ailee recounted, “As we got to talking, we both kind of realized at the same time, like, ‘Oh, shoot. I think I’m going to marry him.’ And he knew. Even before we dated. And he felt the same way, too. He’s like, ‘Oh, crap. I think I’m going to get married to this girl.’”
Ailee further described Choi Si Hoon as incredibly supportive and caring, adding, “He’s very supportive. And he babies me, so… And I’m like, 35 being babied. It feels really good!”
Their first official date happened at a god concert in 2023, where Ailee shared a memorable moment that felt like a scene straight out of a K-Drama. She described, “It was during the concert when we became a couple. It was kind of chilly and I had his jacket over my knees. We were enjoying the music and, like, I put my hands inside the jacket. And we kind of, like, touched. Our hands kind of touched and… I didn’t move. So while everybody was like dancing and singing along, my face was red. We were in our own little world. It was, like, slow motion.”
Wedding Plans
Ailee and Choi Si Hoon confirmed their engagement in May 2024, with plans to wed in 2025. This revelation has given fans a delightful insight into their love story, celebrating the couple’s journey from friends to soon-to-be spouses.
