Music director Nam Hye-seung recently took to Instagram to thank BTS’ Jin for his significant contribution to the soundtrack of the K-drama When The Stars Gossip. Released on January 26, 2025, the song, titled Close to You, marks a remarkable collaboration between the BTS member and the show’s creative team.
Heartfelt Thanks from Nam Hye-seung
Nam Hye-seung shared a post expressing his appreciation for Jin’s dedication to the project. Despite Jin’s demanding schedule, the music director highlighted how wholeheartedly the BTS member participated in the making of the track. In his Instagram message, Hye-seung wrote:
“Above all, I’m deeply thankful and touched by Jin, who participated wholeheartedly in this project despite his busy schedule.”
Hye-seung’s post acknowledged not only Jin’s vocal talent but also the intensive process involved in creating Close to You. The song was officially released as part 3 of the OST for When The Stars Gossip at 6 PM KST on January 26, 2025.
Extensive Collaboration Behind the Song
The making of Close to You required a lot of collaboration. Hye-seung expressed special gratitude towards composer Kim Kyunghee, who worked tirelessly to perfect the song. He mentioned the late nights spent refining the melody and lyrics, further emphasizing the effort that went into creating the track.
He also noted that Jin’s involvement was essential to the final result of the song. Hye-seung reflected on how the song’s vibe would have been entirely different if Jin hadn’t sung it. He commented:
“I hope many people will listen to Jin’s ‘Close to You.’ P.S. Don’t you think Jin (JIN) and the universe are a perfect match? If Seokjin hadn’t sung this song, the latter part would have ended up being structured completely differently and would have had a completely different vibe!”
Close to You and When The Stars Gossip
Close to You is not the first K-drama OST that Jin has worked on. This release follows his 2021 single Yours, which was part of the soundtrack for Jirisan. The track for When The Stars Gossip was previewed on January 20, 2025, and it was officially released later that week.

The K-drama features Lee Min-ho as Gong Ryong and Gong Hyo-jin as Eve Kim. The storyline combines elements of romance and science fiction, as the characters navigate their unexpected bond aboard a space station. Close to You perfectly complements the growing connection between Gong Ryong and Eve Kim, with its lyrics offering messages of love and optimism that align with the show’s themes.

In the K-drama, Gong Ryong is a physician on a covert mission, while Eve Kim is a top space scientist. Their paths cross on the space station, where their friendship blossoms amid high-stakes situations.
