Sheriff Country aired Season 2 Episode 3, titled “Ulysses,” on CBS on Friday, October 23, 2026. The hour connected a college drug crisis to the Bulgarian trafficking ring, forced Eva Santos to explain why she stayed away for decades, and ended with a rescue mission that arrived at an empty building. Wes Fox remained missing with several trafficked women, and Mickey Fox was left with more questions than answers. The episode streamed on Paramount+ the same night.

What Happened Previously

Season 2 Episode 2, titled “Family Trust,” ended with Wes Fox taken by the Stoyanov crime family. Eva Santos had already been revealed as Mickey’s birth mother, a secret that reshaped the show’s central family story. Mickey quit Eva’s task force after the reveal and continued the trafficking investigation with her own team. Boone was hiding something from Mickey, and Cassidy had started to notice. The Stoyanovs were running a trafficking operation out of Edgewater, and Wes had been working his own angle inside their circle before he was captured.

The Cyclone Case and the Bookstore Breakthrough

The episode opened with Mickey and her team chasing Cyclone, a street drug moving quickly through Edgewater’s college community. Cassidy Campbell and Nathan Boone traced the drug to a cashier at the college bookstore. The cashier was hiding Cyclone inside the pages of a specific book, Ulysses, and handing it to students.

The case grew more complicated when the team learned the cashier’s sister was one of the women trafficked by the Stoyanovs. The cashier was likely being blackmailed into selling the drug. Cassidy and Boone staked out the bookstore and caught one of the Bulgarian henchmen making a drop. The man agreed to cooperate after Mickey pushed him to flip on the family.

His information led the team to a marijuana grow operation in Deadwater. The same location held several trafficked women, including the bookstore cashier’s sister. It was also where the Stoyanovs had taken Wes.

Eva Santos Explains Why She Stayed Away

Eva Santos arrived at Mickey’s office with news that the Stoyanovs had captured Wes. The moment forced Eva to explain the parts of her past she had kept hidden. She revealed that she could not return to Edgewater because her DEA handlers controlled her. She had been working under three different handlers.

Two of those handlers died in the past few years. The third suffered a heart attack just months before the episode. That loss of control gave Eva the freedom to come back to Edgewater and face her daughter.

Eva also admitted she thought she could see Mickey once and then walk away again. She had already left once, and she believed she could do it again. The confession did not erase decades of hurt, but it gave Mickey a clearer picture of what kept her mother away.

Wes Fox Inside the Stoyanov Operation

Wes Fox spent the episode inside the Bulgarian marijuana grow. His ability to repair the operation’s equipment became his best survival tool. He fixed the grow, earned a measure of trust, and bought himself time. Wes also met one of the trafficked women and began planning an escape with her.

A guitar inside the compound carried the word “Sly” carved into it. Eva later explained she gave Wes the nickname “Sly as a Fox” because he was always a step ahead. The marker told Mickey and Eva that Wes had been in the building.

The escape plan did not stay secret. Sonny Stoyanov’s mother caught Wes and the woman, and the Stoyanovs prepared to torture him. Mickey, Eva, and the team arrived just as the torture was about to begin.

The Rescue That Found an Empty Building

The captured Bulgarian from the bookstore led Mickey and the team to the Deadwater location. The raid looked like the moment Wes would finally come home. Mickey, Eva, and the deputies entered the compound and found the space empty.

Wes and the trafficked women were gone. The episode did not explain whether Wes escaped with the women on his own or whether the Stoyanovs moved everyone before the team arrived. The show ended on that cliffhanger, with Wes still missing and the trafficking case still open.

Character Story Progression

Mickey Fox spent the episode torn between anger at her father and fear of losing him. She threatened Eva when she learned Wes had been taken, and she led the raid that came up empty. Her feelings for Wes remained unresolved, but the hour made clear she still cared about him.

Eva Santos moved from a guarded stranger to a mother who finally explained her absence. She took accountability for leaving and admitted she thought she could walk away again. The confession gave Mickey a reason to listen, even if it did not fix their relationship.

Wes Fox proved resourceful inside the Stoyanov operation. He fixed their grow, planned an escape with a trafficked woman, and left a marker for his family. His plan was discovered, and he remained missing at the end of the hour.

Cassidy Campbell held the investigation together. She made the bookstore connection, pushed Boone to take care of himself, and validated Mickey’s fear when Eva revealed Wes was kidnapped. She also noticed Boone was not thinking clearly.

Nathan Boone was distracted by his feelings for Mickey. Cassidy called him out for trying to be the hero when the team needed a united front. He also continued to hide something from Mickey, and the episode did not reveal what it was.

Hank Iglesias appeared alongside Cassidy and Boone as the team worked the bookstore lead and the Deadwater raid.

Travis Fraley was not at the centre of the episode. The main story stayed on the trafficking case, the drug investigation, and the Fox family.
