Fans of Bridgerton are eagerly waiting to see if their favorite couple, Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton, will return for Season 4. Both Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor, who played the beloved pair in Season 1, have spoken about their possible comeback. Here’s what we know so far.
Phoebe Dynevor, who played Daphne, has not been asked to return for Season 4. She confirmed this in January 2025 while promoting her new movie Inheritance.
“I mean, they’ve not called me yet. And I think they’re shooting Season 4 right now. So, I’m still waiting for that call.”
Dyneor last appeared in Season 2 but was absent from Season 3. She explained that she felt her character’s story had reached a satisfying end but left the door open for a future return.
“Well, I did my two seasons. I’ve done what I wanted to do with that character and she had a great arc. If they ask me back in the future, who knows?”
Meanwhile, Regé-Jean Page, who played the Duke of Hastings, has been clear about not returning. He told Entertainment Tonight that he is happy supporting the show from afar.
“I’m very happy to support everyone who’s in the show. Everyone’s finding fantastic success, but with the show and personal projects, I’m just super happy to say that.”
Page has repeatedly said he always planned to leave after Season 1. In 2022, he even joked that the show could recast his role if needed.
“They’re free to do as they like. Shonda and I had a wonderful conversation at the end of Season 1. We were quite happy with how we stuck the landing on that one.”
What’s Happening in Bridgerton Season 4?
Season 4 will focus on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and his love story with Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). The season is currently filming and is expected to release in early 2026.

- Colin & Penelope Bridgerton (Luke Newton & Nicola Coughlan)

New faces joining the cast include Katie Leung as Lady Araminta and Michelle Mao and Isabella Wei as her daughters.
Why Fans Still Hope for Daphne’s Return
While Daphne’s absence in Season 4 is confirmed, many fans hope she will return for Francesca’s storyline in future seasons. In the books, Daphne and Francesca share a close bond, which hasn’t been explored much in the show.
Francesca’s story is expected to be emotional, and Daphne’s presence could add depth. Phoebe Dynevor has said she’s open to coming back if asked.
“But do I plan to revisit Daphne? Yeah, if they want me back. I haven’t got the call yet, but I’m available.”
Will Simon Ever Return?
Regé-Jean Page has moved on to other projects, including the spy film Black Bag and rumors of him being the next James Bond. His return seems unlikely, but fans still hold out hope for a surprise cameo.
For now, Bridgerton continues without Simon and Daphne, but their legacy remains strong among fans.
