The Amazing Race Season 38 Episode 8: Joseph and Adam Survive Non-Elimination Scare

The Amazing Race Season 38 Episode 8

A dramatic leg in Bucharest tested the limits of all the teams, but a last-place finish did not mean the end of the road for brothers Joseph and Adam Abdin. The eighth episode of The Amazing Race Season 38, which aired on November 12, 2025, was a non-elimination leg, saving the pair from elimination after a challenging day of racing through Romania.

The brothers faced significant difficulties, particularly during a time-consuming egg hunt and a traditional dance challenge. Their struggle allowed other teams to pull ahead, ultimately leading them to the Pit Stop in last place. However, host Phil Keoghan informed them they were still in the competition, though they will face a penalty in the next leg.

The outcome of the leg was a major shift in the season’s dynamics. The team of Jas and Jag broke the four-leg winning streak of the dominant brothers Tucker and Eric, claiming first place and a trip to Bermuda.

The Bucharest Race Challenges Teams in Romania

The eighth leg of the race required teams to navigate Bucharest without using taxis, pushing their resourcefulness to the limit. The competition involved a series of complex tasks, from a detailed Road Block to a choice between two tricky Detours and a final culinary test.

The pressure to use special advantages also came to a head. Teams were required to use any unused Express Passes on this leg, leading to strategic moves from the teams holding them.

An Egg Hunt Road Block Causes Major Delays

The first major challenge was a Road Block in a local park. One member from each team had to search through countless small eggs to find one that perfectly matched a specific large ceramic egg. After finding a match, they had to carefully roll the large egg to an official for verification.

This task proved to be a game of luck and patience. While some teams, like Tucker and Eric, found their match relatively quickly, others were not as fortunate. Joseph and Adam, who worked together with the team of Kyland and Taylor during the search, fell behind. Adam spent a considerable amount of time searching for the correct egg on his own after the other teams had left.

The random nature of the task prompted Jas and Jag to use their Express Pass, allowing them to bypass the egg hunt entirely and jump ahead to the next challenge.

Detour Decisions Separate the Teams

After the Road Block, teams faced a Detour with two options. In “Find the Beat,” teams had to learn and perfectly perform a routine of traditional Romanian folk dance while wearing authentic attire. The other option, “Hit the Note,” required teams to first assemble a pan flute and then work together to play a short piece of music correctly.

Team choices and their outcomes varied widely:

  • Jas and Jag chose “Find the Beat” and completed the dance after several attempts.
  • Tucker and Eric opted for “Hit the Note,” struggling through six attempts before finally getting their song approved.
  • Kyland and Taylor used their Express Pass at the Detour, bypassing the challenge altogether to save time.
  • Joseph and Adam selected the dance challenge, where Adam was noted to have concerns about his low blood sugar during the task. They eventually succeeded after six attempts.

Meanwhile, Jack and Chelsie suffered a major setback due to navigational issues, getting lost for about an hour as they tried to find the Detour location, putting them far behind the other teams.

A Sausage Cooking Task and the Final Sprint

The final task before the Pit Stop was a culinary challenge. Teams had to make and cook 10 traditional Romanian sausages known as mici. After cooking, each team member had to eat one sausage before receiving their clue to the Pit Stop.

Tucker and Eric were the first to arrive at the task but needed multiple tries to get the sausage recipe right. Jas and Jag arrived soon after and managed to complete the task and leave for the Pit Stop just behind the leading team.

The race to avoid last place intensified. Jack and Chelsie and Joseph and Adam were the final two teams at the cooking task. While Jack and Chelsie finished first and raced to the Pit Stop in a taxi, Joseph and Adam’s late arrival sealed their last-place fate for the leg.
