Season 3 Story Details and Cast
The season starts right where the last one ended. The story picks up in the 2015 timeline at Bree and Evan’s wedding. Viewers will see Bree’s reaction to the voice message from Stephen. In that message, Evan admits he slept with Lucy years ago. After that, the story goes back to 2008. It shows the group returning to Baird College after break.
The show’s creator, Meaghan Oppenheimer, talked about fan reactions. She said some viewers online have been very hard on Lucy’s character. They wanted to see her face more consequences.
“I hear a lot of people say ‘she’s as bad as Stephen,’ which I think, it’s just baffling to me that anyone thinks that, but here we go. And so they’ve been asking for Lucy to be punished since season one,” Oppenheimer said. “I want you guys to ask yourselves at the end of the season if you feel OK about that”.
The main cast returns for this season. Grace Van Patten plays Lucy Albright and Jackson White plays Stephen DeMarco. Other returning characters include Catherine Missal as Bree, Spencer House as Wrigley, and Branden Cook as Evan. Sonia Mena plays Pippa and Alicia Crowder plays Diana.
New characters join the story this season. Costa D’Angelo plays Alex, a person from Bree’s past in the foster system. Iris Apatow also joins the cast in a role named Amanda.
Actor Jackson White described Stephen’s mental state in the new season. “He’s questioning his morality. I think he’s having feelings, he doesn’t know what they are. And he’s trying to, you know, react,” White said. “He doesn’t know what to do with his feelings, except to hurt people”.
Grace Van Patten talked about Lucy’s hopes. “Stephen and Lucy are getting back together and Lucy really starts off the season with thinking things are gonna be really different and that’s her first mistake,” Van Patten said.
What to Expect in the New Episodes
Early information about the first two episodes suggests more drama for the friend group. The consequences of Drew’s death continue to affect Wrigley. Bree deals with the fallout from her past relationship with Professor Oliver, played by Tom Ellis.
Some viewers have noticed a possible new connection. A quiet moment between Bree and Wrigley at a bus stop hints at a deeper understanding between them. This could lead to a new relationship as the season continues.
The relationship between Pippa and Diana is also explored more. The actors note their characters share a more vulnerable and grounding connection this season.
The show continues to move between two time periods. It shows the characters in 2008 during college and in 2015 at Bree’s wedding. This structure helps reveal how past choices affect their futures.
