Netflix is expanding the cast for its highly talked-about new drama series Breakers (also known as Red Bluff), and the fresh additions are turning heads in the entertainment world. The streaming giant has officially brought on board Emmy-nominated actor D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, known for his groundbreaking role in Reservation Dogs, alongside two promising Australian talents, Annabel Wolfe and Oliver Edis. They will join the previously announced lead, Antony Starr, famous for his terrifyingly good performance as Homelander in The Boys .
The announcement, confirmed by multiple sources on February 17, 2026, reveals that production is already rolling in Western Australia. This project marks a significant moment as it is the first Netflix series to film in the region, backed by a major investment from the local government .
Who Are the New Faces Joining ‘Breakers’?
The casting of D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai brings a wave of critical acclaim to the series. He earned a historic 2024 Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Bear Smallhill in FX’s Reservation Dogs. This nomination made him the first Indigenous performer ever to be recognized in a lead acting category .
In Breakers, Woon-A-Tai will play Elliot, a character described as a working-class, shy teenager from Rhode Island who embarks on a surf trip to Australia before stepping into adult life .
Alongside him, Annabel Wolfe (Surviving Summer) is set to play Harper, and Oliver Edis (Gnomes) will take on the role of Flynn. Edis, an emerging Australian talent and disability advocate, is looking at this series as a major breakout moment in his career .

What is ‘Breakers’ About?
Created and executive produced by Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy, The Death of Bunny Munro), Breakers is an eight-episode drama set deep within Australia’s vibrant surfing culture.
The story follows two American best friends on a backpacking trip across Australia. Their journey takes a turn when they stumble upon a seemingly perfect and idyllic coastal community of surfers. This group is led by Brando, a charismatic and mysterious figure played by Antony Starr. What starts as an appealing, carefree lifestyle soon reveals darker, more unsettling layers beneath the surface .
Production Team and Directors
The creative team behind the camera is just as impressive as the cast. Directing duties are handled by Mary Nighy (Say Nothing, Industry) and Ng Choon Ping (What It Feels Like for a Girl) . The series is produced by Clerkenwell Films, the acclaimed studio behind global hits like Baby Reindeer and The End of the F*ing World, in association with BBC Studios Productions Australia .
Wim De Greef, an executive producer on the series who also worked on Baby Reindeer, emphasized the importance of filming in Australia. He stated, “Shooting Breakers in Western Australia lets us tell this story in the way we imagined, partner with fantastic local crews in a truly unique location, and showcase this spectacular coastline on screen” .
Production Update and Filming Location
Filming for Breakers is currently underway in Western Australia and is scheduled to continue through June 2026 . This production is a major win for the region, supported by Screenwest and the WA Government through the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive. It is expected to inject more than $19 million into the local economy and employ over 100 local cast and crew members .
For Antony Starr, this role comes as his time as Homelander in the hit series The Boys is winding down with its fifth and final season scheduled for release in 2026. Breakers marks his first major television role following that chapter .
