Fans of the Man Without Fear have been watching Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 very closely. While the show is known for its street-level action and gritty storytelling in Hell’s Kitchen, something much bigger might be happening in the background. A small, easy-to-miss detail has sparked a lot of discussion. It looks like Marvel Studios could be connecting this grounded series to the larger multiverse. A hidden image in a recent episode suggests that a powerful cosmic being is keeping an eye on Matt Murdock.

The Watcher Easter Egg Changes Everything

During a fight between Daredevil and Bullseye in episode 4 of Season 2, titled “Gloves Off,” something unusual appears in the background. Broken glass and specific lights come together to form the face of Uatu, also known as The Watcher. This is the same all-seeing character who narrates the animated series What If…?.

This is not just a random shape. Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Streaming at Marvel Studios, seemed to confirm the Easter egg. He posted a picture of the scene on Instagram with the caption “Always watching” and tagged What If…?. The Watcher is known for observing important events across different universes without getting involved. His appearance in Daredevil raises a big question: why is he watching Matt Murdock?

Connecting the Street to the Cosmos

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premiered on March 24, 2026, on Disney+. While the show focuses on Matt building a resistance against Wilson Fisk (Mayor of New York), these hidden clues suggest a larger plan. The Watcher’s presence means the events in Hell’s Kitchen might have consequences across the multiverse. This moves Daredevil from a local hero to a key piece in the MCU’s wider story.

This is not the only connection to the larger Marvel universe in the show. Showrunner Dario Scardapane confirmed that a new character, Mr. Charles played by Matthew Lillard, works for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (the leader of the Thunderbolts). This ties the series directly to the political side of the MCU.

“So, building Mr. Charles as somebody who lives in the Val world, we wanted to make that connection. So, that’s why that’s on the other end of the phone call.” – Dario Scardapane

Other MCU Connections in the Show

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again includes several references to the wider MCU. Episode 4 mentions Skrulls, the shape-shifting aliens from Secret Invasion and The Marvels. A character suggests using the “Skrull defense” in court, confirming that the public knows about the alien infiltration.

The show also references Rogers: The Musical (from Hawkeye) and features a billboard for Harlem’s Paradise, the nightclub owned by Luke Cage. There is also a clear mention of “a man who dresses in a spider outfit.” This connects Daredevil to Spider-Man, even though the show cannot say his name directly due to rights issues with Sony.

What This Means for the Show’s Future

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has eight episodes and has received strong reviews, holding a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The cast includes Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Punisher, and Krysten Ritter returning as Jessica Jones.

The Watcher Easter egg might just be a fun visual for eagle-eyed fans. However, Marvel Studios is known for planning these details years in advance. With Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars on the horizon for 2026 and 2027, the multiverse is the main focus of the MCU. Having The Watcher observe Daredevil suggests that Matt Murdock could play a role in those massive crossover events. For now, fans can continue watching new episodes of Daredevil: Born Again every week on Disney+ to see if more cosmic clues appear.
