James Cameron’s journey to Pandora continues with Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third film in the groundbreaking sci-fi series. This sequel brings back familiar blue faces and introduces new characters, all brought to life by a massive cast of actors using performance capture technology. Alongside the visual spectacle, the film features an expansive musical score and new vocal performances. Here is the complete guide to the stars who populate this world and the music that brings it to life.

Meet the Returning Cast of Heroes and Villains

The core Sully family and their allies return, facing new challenges after the events of the previous film. Sam Worthington again plays Jake Sully, the former human turned Na’vi leader who must hold his grieving family together. His wife, Neytiri, is again performed by Zoe Saldaรฑa. Following their son’s death, Neytiri is described as consumed by grief and rage, creating deep conflict within the family.

โ€œPerformance capture means that โ€˜Avatarโ€™ wouldnโ€™t exist if Sigourney Weaver, Sam Worthington, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, myself and the entire cast didnโ€™t get up and put those dots on our faces,โ€ Saldaรฑa has stated, emphasizing the human effort behind the digital characters.

Sigourney Weaver returns as the spiritually gifted teenager Kiri, whose unique connection to Pandora’s ecosystem, Eywa, becomes even more important. The film’s primary antagonist, Colonel Miles Quaritch, is again portrayed by Stephen Lang. His mission for revenge becomes more complex due to his biological connection to the human boy, Spider.

Other returning cast members include Kate Winslet as the pregnant Metkayina free diver Ronal and Cliff Curtis as her husband, the clan leader Tonowari. Bailey Bass and Filip Geljo return as their children, Tsireya and Ao’nung. CCH Pounder briefly reprises her role as the spiritual leader Mo’at, Neytiri’s mother.

The younger Sully children are played by Britain Dalton as the rebellious son Lo’ak and Trinity Bliss as the courageous youngest daughter, Tuk. Jamie Flatters also returns as the late eldest son, Neteyam, appearing in spiritual visions.

New Characters and the Actors Behind Them

Avatar: Fire and Ash introduces pivotal new factions to the conflict on Pandora. The most significant addition is Oona Chaplin as Varang, the leader of the Mangkwan, also known as the Ash People. This volcanic Na’vi tribe, hardened by past tragedy, has rejected Eywa and becomes a major threat. James Cameron described Varang as a leader hardened by hardship who will do anything for her people.

David Thewlis joins the franchise as Peylak, the leader of the nomadic Wind Traders, a sky-bound Na’vi tribe that lives on flying caravans. This group is set to play a larger role in future sequels.

Several actors from earlier films also reprise their human and recombinant roles. These include Jack Champion as Spider, Joel David Moore as scientist Norm Spellman, Edie Falco as General Frances Ardmore, and Jemaine Clement as marine biologist Ian Garvin. Giovanni Ribisi returns as the former RDA administrator Parker Selfridge.

The Complete Soundtrack Tracklist

The film’s score was composed by Simon Franglen, who previously worked on Avatar: The Way of Water. The official soundtrack album for Avatar: Fire and Ash contains 37 tracks and was released digitally on December 5, 2025. A vinyl release is scheduled for January 30, 2026.
