The Joker makes his official appearance in Season 2. The first season ended with a tease of the Clown Prince of Crime, and the new trailer confirms his arrival. The trailer ends with The Joker speaking directly to Batman, saying, “I’ve come to awaken you. To show you what you are”.

Edward Nygma, also known as The Riddler, plays a major role in the new season. The trailer shows him as a gun-toting gangster type, fitting the 1940s setting. He appears to be running things in Gotham’s criminal underworld.

Carrie Kelley joins the series as DC’s first female Robin. The character was created by Frank Miller for The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel. In the show, she appears wearing a grey suit and mask inspired by the Grey Ghost.

Story Details: What to Expect in Season 2

The second season continues the hard-boiled, noir-inspired storytelling of the first season. Batman: Caped Crusader is set in a world inspired by the 1940s and follows Bruce Wayne in his early years as a vigilante.

The new season focuses on the war for Gotham City. Edward Nygma emerges as a major player in the criminal underworld. Batman must face the chaos that Nygma and his allies bring to the city.

The show blends episodic villain encounters with an overarching narrative. Season 2 continues this approach, with Batman facing different threats in each episode while dealing with the larger criminal conspiracy.

The season reportedly mixes elements from two beloved Batman stories: The Dark Knight Returns and the Batman: The Animated Series episode “Beware the Gray Ghost”. Carrie Kelley’s appearance draws from The Dark Knight Returns, while the Grey Ghost homage connects to Batman’s past.

A gender-swapped version of Mad Hatter appears in the season. This character hosts a television show called “Hattie’s Tea Party” and questions whether Gotham is truly safer with Batman.
