Where the Story Goes in Season 3
Season 3 picks up right after the events of Season 2. The crew of Ark One has successfully established Homebase 1, their new colony on a habitable planet. But the story does not stay in one place.
Captain Sharon Garnet (played by Christie Burke) takes a team back into space. Their mission is to find other lost Earth survivors. Other colonization ships, like Ark-10 and Ark-14, never made it to the colony. Garnet and her team, including Brice and Ian, go on a search and rescue mission to find them.
Meanwhile, a different part of the crew stays behind on Homebase 1. Dr. Kabir, Alicia, and Angus choose to remain on the planet to build and protect the new colony. But things are not peaceful on the ground. The team makes an unsettling discovery hidden deep within the planet. This discovery raises serious questions about the planet’s history and whether it is actually safe.
The official synopsis from Syfy says: “Captain Garnet and some of her brave team return to space in the hopes of finding other lost Earth survivors. The rest of her team remain on Homebase 1 to explore their new world but an unsettling discovery makes everyone wonder what secrets this new planet is hiding and how safe it really is”.
The trailer for Season 3 shows battles in space and on the planet Trappist-1b. It also hints at new alien threats and bigger action sequences. Co-showrunner Dean Devlin explained that the show is now a “search and rescue mission” that takes place both on the new colony and during space missions. He called it a “bigger universe and a bigger show this year”.
