The final season of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War is doing something different. Instead of waiting for the TV broadcast, fans can watch the opening episodes on the big screen first.
VIZ Media and Fathom Entertainment have teamed up to bring the first three episodes of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War The Calamity to movie theaters across the United States. This limited theatrical run happens before the episodes air on television or hit streaming services.
Theatrical Run Dates and Ticket Information
The movie theater event runs from June 25 through June 29, 2026. Fans can watch both subtitled and English-dubbed versions at participating cinemas nationwide.
Tickets go on sale starting May 29, 2026. People can buy them online through Fathom Entertainment’s website or directly at theater box offices. The screening locations may change, so checking the official Fathom website closer to the date is a good idea.
What Fans Get at the Theater
This is not just a simple episode screening. The theatrical event includes special bonus content that TV viewers will not see. Attendees get an exclusive behind-the-scenes conversation with Tite Kubo, the creator of BLEACH, along with chief series director Tomohisa Taguchi and series director Hikaru Murata.
Ray Nutt, Chief Executive Officer at Fathom Entertainment, shared his excitement about the release.
“Anime fans are in for a thrilling experience as BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War wraps up its groundbreaking run on the big screen. Fathom has pioneered the theatrical experience for compelling, non-traditional content with built-in fanbases, and BLEACH fans are in for a treat with the first three episodes and exclusive, behind the scenes content from our friends at VIZ Media beginning June 25.”
The Story of The Calamity
BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War The Calamity continues the intense war between the Soul Reapers and the Quincies. The Royal Guard Squad Zero faces Yhwach as he tries to enter the Royal Palace. But the Quincy King breaks through their powerful Bankai and steps into the Reio Greater Palace.
Ichigo Kurosaki gets tricked by Yhwach and ends up cutting down the Soul King with his own sword. This causes the Three Worlds to start collapsing. Distortions and signs of destruction appear everywhere. The Thirteen Court Guard Squads join forces with the surviving Quincies and head to the Royal Palace, now under Wandenreich control and renamed the Wahr Welt.
A Massive Comeback for BLEACH
BLEACH originally ran for 366 episodes from 2004 to 2012. It stood as one of Shonen Jump’s “Big 3” alongside One Piece and Naruto. The series came back in 2022 with the Thousand-Year Blood War adaptation and quickly proved its staying power.
The new season won Anime Trending’s “Anime of the Year” in 2024. It also earned MyAnimeList’s Best Anime of 2022 award. Fans and critics regularly give the show ratings around 9.4 out of 10. The series also received multiple nominations at the 2024-25 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Best Action, Best Continuing Series, Best Score for composer Shiro Sagisu, and Best English VA performance for Johnny Yong Bosch.
The numbers back up the hype. VIZ Media’s social media content for BLEACH collected over 25 million views and more than 105 million impressions in 2025 alone. The series has also logged over 62 million hours watched on Hulu.

What This Means for Global Fans
The theatrical release is currently scheduled only for the United States. International fans will likely need to wait for the TV broadcast or streaming debut in July 2026 to watch The Calamity. The TV release will happen after the theatrical run finishes.
The final season of BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War wraps up a story that began over two decades ago. For fans who grew up watching Ichigo and his friends, seeing these final episodes on the big screen offers a fitting way to say goodbye.
Tite Kubo has been personally checking the storyboards for this final part. He previously mentioned that some episodes look very difficult to animate, showing how much care is going into this last season. The team at Pierrot Films wants to deliver animation that matches the importance of this final arc.
