Eleven members of the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) have stepped down from their positions. The group has made serious complaints against the organization’s President Poonam Dhillon and Senior Vice-President Padmini Kolhapure. The members are accusing the two veteran actresses of misusing their authority within the film body.
The resignations were submitted on August 10, 2026. Upasana Singh, who serves as the General Secretary of CINTAA, confirmed the news. She stated that out of the 11 members who resigned, eight were elected members of the Executive Committee. The members have also submitted formal complaints explaining why they decided to leave.
The Main Complaints Against the Leadership
The members who resigned have raised several issues regarding how CINTAA is being run. In their joint resignation letter, they claimed that the association has moved away from collective decision-making. They said that the power has become concentrated around Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure.
One of the major complaints is that Poonam Dhillon has been taking decisions on her own. The resigning members stated that she sent official communications to government officials using her personal email ID. They also claimed she decided on communications with industry bodies using the official CINTAA email without getting approval from the Executive Committee. Furthermore, they alleged that she represented the association in front of government and industry bodies without informing or consulting the committee members.
Issues Regarding Legal Representation
The complaints also cover the use of lawyers. The members alleged that Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure visited government offices with lawyers they had hired privately. They claimed these lawyers were introduced as CINTAA’s lawyers. However, the resigning members stated that these lawyers did not have the authority or approval from the Executive Committee to act on behalf of the association.
Upasana Singh Explains the Situation
Upasana Singh spoke to the media about the internal conflict. She confirmed the resignations and shared details about the complaints. She said that the members have clearly stated that Padmini Kolhapure and Poonam Dhillon are misusing their positions.
Singh also raised concerns about the lack of transparency. She pointed out that official communication should go through the association’s official email system. This ensures that there is a proper record and transparency. She explained that using personal email IDs for official work is not the right way to function.
“When a mail has to be sent to any organisation, we cannot send it through our personal mail ID if we want to send it officially. This is the same everywhere. Here, Poonam ji sends her personal mail ID to the organisations and asks them to send it to her. She gains no benefit from it but there is no transparency.”
Singh also alleged that the two office-bearers were not listening to other members. She claimed that show-cause notices were being issued without proper reason. She also mentioned that members’ roles were being changed without adequate consultation and that actors’ membership cards were being cancelled without any prior warning.
The List of Members Who Resigned
The eight elected members who resigned from the Executive Committee are well-known figures in the Indian film and television industry. Upasana Singh identified them as Hemant Pandey, Mukesh Rishi, Sahila Chadha, Hetal Parmar, Puneet Issar, Vindu Dara Singh, Vikas Verma and Deepak Parashar.

CINTAA’s Response to the Crisis
Following the resignations, there were reports that the CINTAA Executive Committee had been dissolved. However, the association’s legal representative has denied this. Advocate Suvigya Vidyarthi, appearing on behalf of CINTAA, clarified that the committee has not been dissolved.
“The version which has been circulating that the EC of CINTAA is dissolved is totally wrong, misconceived and lacks any judicial sanctity.”
Vidyarthi explained that according to the CINTAA Constitution, the Executive Committee can only be dissolved if more than 50% of the elected members resign. He stated that this has not happened. He also mentioned that new members have been inducted in their place based on election vote counts.
However, Upasana Singh has a different interpretation. She maintained that the Constitution allows for dissolution when half or more members resign. She also said that the members want the Registrar to oversee fresh elections.
This internal dispute has created a significant crisis within CINTAA. The members who resigned have called for fresh elections. They have also reportedly pushed for the Registrar to step in and oversee a new election process.
