Clevatess Season 2 is set to premiere on July 8, 2026. The dark fantasy anime returns with its first episode airing at 9:00 PM JST, which translates to 8:00 AM EDT and 5:00 AM PDT for viewers in the United States. Crunchyroll will stream the new season exclusively for audiences in North America and multiple other territories outside Japan.
The second season continues the story of Clevatess (known as Clen in human form), one of the Lords of Dark Beasts. The first season showed him reviving a hero he personally slayed and adopting an orphaned humanoid baby named Luna. Now, the story moves to a new stage with Clen taking on the role of royal magic tutor.
New Characters Join the Cast for Season 2
The upcoming season adds several new voice actors to the cast. Shuichiro Umeda joins as Ray, Yurina Kikuchi voices Mary, and Tatsumaru Tachibana plays Andrew. The cast also includes Ryota Suzuki as Tigel and Hiromu Mineta as Leon.
The returning main cast and staff from Season 1 continue their work on the show. Kiyotaka Taguchi returns to direct the series at Lay-duce, with Keigo Koyonagi handling series scripts. Souichirou Sako provides character designs, and Nobuaki Nobusawa composes the music.
Opening Theme and Promotional Content
Mayu Maeshima returns to perform the opening theme song for Season 2. The track is titled “Foreshadow”. A third promotional video has been released along with a digest video recapping the first season. A new key visual and character visual highlighting Ray, Mary, and Andrew have also been unveiled.
The official Crunchyroll synopsis for the series reads :
“One of the Lords of Dark Beasts, Clevatess’s reign shatters when he revives a hero he personally slayed and adopts an orphaned humanoid baby—the last hope to save a dying world. Now bound together, what fate awaits this unlikely trio?”
What Happened in Season 1 and What to Expect
The first season of Clevatess premiered on July 2, 2025, and ran for 12 episodes until September 17, 2025. The second season was announced shortly after the finale aired.
Original creator Yuji Iwahara expressed his excitement about the second season. He said, “I’m proud that Season 1 was so well received. The setting will change a lot from Season 1, so I hope everyone enjoys that”. He also mentioned that fans should “look forward to Clen’s adventures, the secrets of the hero’s legend, and Alicia’s further challenges and growth”.
After the battle with Dorel and Luna’s reunion with her mother, the story continues with Alicia and her group. The new season follows the official sequel subtitle, “Clevatess II: The King of Magical Beasts and the Legend of the False Hero”.
