DAY6 Makes History with ‘HAPPY’

DAY6, the well-loved rock boy band, has added another milestone to their career. On September 30, 2024, the band achieved its first-ever Perfect All Kill (PAK) with the B-side track “HAPPY” from their album Fourever. The track, released six months ago, reached this status at 7:30 AM KST, according to Instiz iChart.

What is a Perfect All Kill?

For those unfamiliar, a Perfect All Kill is a significant achievement in the Korean music industry. It is awarded when a song simultaneously tops the daily and Top 100 charts of Melon, the real-time and daily charts of Genie and Bugs, YouTube Music’s Top Songs chart, VIBE’s daily chart, and the real-time charts of FLO and iChart. Additionally, the song must top the iChart weekly chart to secure the title. Achieving a PAK is a rare feat and a major honor for artists.

This win marks a huge accomplishment for DAY6 as they became the first boy group in 2024 to achieve a Perfect All Kill.

DAY6: A History of Success

DAY6 debuted under JYP Entertainment on September 7, 2015, with their EP The Day. The group quickly gained attention, with the album peaking at number 2 on the Billboard World Albums Chart within a week of its release. The band currently has four members: Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon.

Over the years, DAY6 has been known not only for their catchy music but also for their involvement in writing, composing, and producing their songs. Although initially a six-member group, Junhyeok left in 2016, and Jae departed in 2021. Despite these changes, DAY6 has continued to thrive as one of the most popular South Korean rock bands.

Fourever, the album that features “HAPPY,” was released on March 18, 2024, with its lead track “Welcome to the Show.” “HAPPY” stands out as a B-side hit, gaining immense popularity over time. DAY6 has consistently proven their musical talent with their earlier albums as well, including their studio album SUNRISE, released in 2017. This album earned them a spot on Billboard’s Greatest 25 K-pop Albums of the 2010s list, with their hit track “I Wait” making it to The 100 Greatest K-pop Songs of the 2010s.
