ENA’s romantic comedy Dream to You reached its halfway point with Episode 6 on July 28, and the writers chose to break hearts instead of giving viewers the happy moment they were hoping for. The episode, which runs for 70 minutes, sees leads Woo Soo-bin (Hwang In-youp) and Joo Yi-jae (Lee Hye-ri) finally confront the truth about Yi-jae’s accident. But instead of bringing them closer, the revelation pushes them to make a painful decision.
The 12-episode series, which premiered on July 13 on ENA, follows two childhood friends who shared a dream of making films. Soo-bin became a successful film director. Yi-jae became a reporter who gave up on her dream. Episode 6 marks the end of the first half of the show’s run, and it closes with the leads choosing separate paths.
Soo-bin Learns the Truth About Yi-jae’s Injury
Episode 6 picks up right after the cliffhanger from Episode 5. Soo-bin rushes to meet Yi-jae and confronts her about the injury in her leg. He asks her directly if the injury happened because of him.
Yi-jae understands the weight of regret that Soo-bin carries. She tries to comfort him and tells him she does not feel much pain. The two then begin to discuss their past regrets.
The accident happened 15 years earlier. Yi-jae was searching for Soo-bin after he broke his promise to make a film with her and left for the United States. Soo-bin now carries overwhelming guilt. He realizes that his actions changed the course of Yi-jae’s life.
Instead of justifying what happened, Soo-bin carries the burden and hurts himself. He struggles to meet Yi-jae’s eyes, and his silence fills every room they share.
Yi-jae carries her own pain. Beyond the physical injury, she spent years believing she abandoned the filmmaking dream she loved most. The episode lets both leads sit with their guilt and realize what they have been missing.
Tension Builds During Pre-Production
Things take an awkward turn when Yi-jae arrives at the studio the next day. Soo-bin becomes overly anxious whenever Yi-jae mentions her leg. He tries to make her comfortable and even buys an expensive massage chair so she does not feel any pain.
Yi-jae tries to tell him she is fine, but Soo-bin does not listen.
The two continue working on the movie write-up and finish it. They celebrate by having a drink and discussing their past. Yi-jae begins to feel happy about the concern Soo-bin shows toward her.
But things get complicated when Soo-bin’s entire team arrives at the studio for a staff meeting. Yi-jae does not feel ready to meet the staff. When she arrives, she understands the shift in the atmosphere. She does not get a warm welcome.
The staff gets up to go scout locations for the project. Yi-jae asks Soo-bin to speak with her in private. She wants to know why she is being left out of the location scouting when they discussed doing everything together.
Soo-bin does not pay much attention to her words. He tells her she will meet the producers for the script reading while he scouts locations with the team. He says this is the best choice.
Yi-jae Feels Left Out
After Soo-bin and the team leave, Yi-jae is left with the producers. She begins to feel left out once again when she realizes the producers are getting constant messages from a group chat she is not included in. She gets more and more anxious as she understands she is being deliberately left out.
After her meeting with the producers, she urges them to stay back, but they refuse. While returning home, Yi-jae finds the producers having food at a cafe. This further impacts her.
The next day, Soo-bin and his team return from scouting locations. Soo-bin asks for a quick meeting before they leave. When Yi-jae arrives at the studio, she goes inside the room to continue her work.
After her work finishes, she comes out to confront Soo-bin. She asks him if he really wants her opinions on things. She also tells him she is not able to face the staff because she understands they are working with her only because of Soo-bin.
The Cast Dinner Brings More Tension
New stills released before the episode showed an awkward atmosphere during a cast dinner for the film “Gyeongseong Love Song”. Soo-bin could not take his eyes off Yi-jae, who was seated far away from him. Yi-jae wore a tense expression during a conversation.
Another set of stills showed the two stepping away from the gathering. Soo-bin looked at Yi-jae with concern, while she avoided his gaze and wore a sorrowful expression suggesting she was on the verge of tears.
The production team commented before the episode aired: “A new variable will emerge in the relationship between Woo Soo Bin, who is now burdened by overwhelming guilt, and Ju Yi Jae, who is left with regrets over giving up on her dreams”. They added, “Please look forward to seeing how Woo Soo Bin and Ju Yi Jae will achieve both their dreams and their love”.
A Confession and a Goodbye
The episode ends with a heartbreaking moment. Yi-jae invites Soo-bin to go running. She wants to show him that her injury no longer affects her. She makes an emotional confession, saying she does not want to live with any regrets and wants to pursue her dreams again. She asks Soo-bin to help her run once more.
Yi-jae tells him she does not want his pity. What she truly wants is someone who believes in her dream and chooses to stand beside her. She wants him beside her, not taking responsibility for her.
Feeling relieved and overwhelmed with emotion, Soo-bin finally confesses his feelings for Yi-jae. He gives her a gentle peck. But then he says he cannot be a strain on her life anymore.
Soo-bin decides to step away. He cannot continue being another burden in Yi-jae’s life. The two decide to part ways as former lovers. They agree to meet again when the next draft is ready, but as colleagues.
Ratings and Viewership
Dream to You began with a rating of 2.7 percent for its first episode. Episode 6 showed a small increase to 2.3 percent. The series remained below its earlier results.
The show airs on ENA every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. KST. International viewers can stream the K-drama on Viki and Viu. Episode 6 became available on July 28.

Episode 6 denies unnecessary melodrama. Instead of dragging misunderstandings, the episode allows Yi-jae and Soo-bin to have proper conversations and be honest about their feelings. Both of their interactions feel like they are trying to ease their anger.
Rather than choosing love alone, they choose healing first. This decision feels completely consistent with both characters’ emotional journeys.
The episode gave the main leads more screen time than the second leads. The chemistry between Hwang In-youp and Hyeri continues to make the series promising. Strong performances, heartfelt writing, and a beautifully executed final confession carry the episode.
While Yi-jae and Soo-bin choose separate paths for now, their story is not over. Episode 7 will air on August 3. The preview clip offered a sneak peek at casting drama for “Gyeongseong Love Song”.
