More than a decade after Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan’s divorce, a long-standing rumour about a massive ₹400 crore alimony payment has finally been addressed. Sussanne’s sister, jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali, has now publicly denied these claims and called them completely false.
The divorce of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan made national headlines back in 2014. The couple, who were married for over 15 years and have two sons together, separated in 2013 and finalised their divorce the following year. During that time, reports surfaced claiming Sussanne had demanded ₹400 crore in alimony from Hrithik. These rumours have followed the family for years, but now Sussanne’s sister has set the record straight.
Farah Khan Ali Calls ₹400 Crore Alimony Reports a ‘Lie’
In a recent conversation with journalist Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel, Farah Khan Ali spoke openly about the divorce and the rumours that have persisted for over a decade. She said the reports about a massive alimony payout were simply not true.
“One thing I want to say on record is that there was never ₹400 crore alimony, and I feel sick at the bottom of my heart when I see people online saying that ₹400 crore was paid and Sussanne got richer. I mean, that is such a lie. My dearest sister did not take anything.”
Farah explained that Sussanne did not accept any money as part of the separation. She credited their upbringing for shaping how Sussanne approached the situation, saying their mother always taught them that relationships mattered more than material things.
“We come from a family and a mother who taught us that materialistic things are not important; relationships are more important. So my sister did not take anything.”
Sussanne Khan Is ‘Not a Gold-Digger,’ Says Sister
Farah Khan Ali also pushed back against the perception that her sister benefited financially from the divorce. She described Sussanne as someone who comes from a respected family and has always carried herself with dignity.
“She is not a gold-digger. She is very elegant. She comes from a khandani (reputed) family. She is elegant and Hrithik also is a wonderful man. It didn’t work out for them, but you don’t need to blow up your marriage for the sake of the press. There was no alimony in this. It’s incorrect and completely wrong.”
Farah noted that the cordial relationship Sussanne continues to share with Hrithik Roshan and his parents, Pinkie and Rakesh Roshan, reflects how respectfully the divorce was handled.
“That’s why today, the relationship she has with her ex-husband Hrithik and her ex in-laws, Pinkie and Rakesh Roshan, is amazing. They love her.”
Why Sussanne Khan Never Denied the Rumours Herself
One of the more interesting parts of Farah Khan Ali’s conversation was about why Sussanne never spoke up about the rumour herself. Farah revealed that after the divorce was finalised in 2014, she personally encouraged her sister multiple times to publicly deny the alimony reports. Sussanne, however, chose to stay quiet.
“I told her, ‘Why don’t you deny all this?’ She said, ‘I don’t care what people think of me, Farah.’”
Farah said that response reflects their family’s broader outlook on life. She explained that they do not let public opinion shape their choices unless the opinion actually comes from someone whose voice genuinely matters to them.
“I do whatever I want to do. Unless you bring some value into my life, what I do shouldn’t matter to you, and what you think of me shouldn’t matter to me.”

Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan’s Journey
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan were childhood friends before their relationship turned romantic. They got married in December 2000, shortly after Hrithik’s breakout debut in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. The couple has two sons: Hrehaan (born in 2006) and Hridhaan (born in 2008).
They separated in 2013, and their divorce was finalised in November 2014. However, they have remained friends and are often seen together at family gatherings and celebrations with their children.
Today, Sussanne Khan is in a relationship with actor Arslan Goni. Hrithik Roshan is dating actor-musician Saba Azad. Farah spoke positively about both relationships, saying it is important to be happy in life.
“Arslan is a wonderful man; he keeps her very happy. They found each other, have compatibility, and share similar interests. It’s nice to see the care they have for each other. I’m happy for her. I’m happy for Hrithik and Saba also.”
Farah Khan Ali described the entire separation as amicable, something that stood in contrast to the intense public scrutiny both Hrithik and Sussanne faced at the time.
“Everyone was in shock. There was a lot of hue and cry. There were a lot of opinions that people had about their personal life, but I think they both handled it all beautifully. It was amicable.”
