Ahn Hyo-seop’s First Chef Role Came With a Real Injury
Ahn Hyo-seop trained with knives and woks to prepare for Kang Han. The practice left him with a serious cut on his finger. After the wound healed, he needed time to get comfortable holding a knife again.
The actor described the role as “a refreshing experience” in an interview covered by Music Mundial. He also compared Kang Han to a well-seasoned aglio e olio dish: simple on the surface, but built on precision and care.
Kang Han is not a loud character. He looks relaxed and cheerful on the outside, but he holds himself to high standards and does not compromise in the kitchen. Under that bright surface, he carries a loneliness he has kept buried for years.
The Show Mixes Scripted Drama With a Reality Competition Format
Final Table is a scripted drama, but the competition inside it is built like a reality show. Chefs from different countries face weekly themed challenges and present dishes that carry their personal stories. The production team said the format lets viewers follow both the competition and the character drama at the same time.
“Because the competition in the drama will be formatted like a reality show, viewers will be able to enjoy the show while watching the drama at the same time. Also, please show lots of anticipation for the hot acting synergy between Ahn Hyo Seop, Hong Hwa Yeon, Chang Ryul, and Jung Yoo Jin.”
The cooking scenes use real recipes and real cooking processes. Dishes are designed to reflect each character’s background, emotions, and history. Ahn Hyo-seop said food works as another language that shows a person’s life.
Hailey’s First TV Role and Other Cast Details
Hailey, born in 2003, built her career in musicals including Gone Tomorrow, Dorian Gray, and Chummy. Final Table is her first television drama. She was born to a Korean mother and a South African father, and her character Isabelle is a chef trying to prove her identity through Korean cuisine.
Jang Young-nam plays Moon Hae-seon, the chairwoman of Pyeongyeon Group. Her casting was confirmed by her agency Andmark on September 11, 2026. Her character’s tense rivalry with her half-sister Baek Hyeon-ju drives the corporate side of the story.
Kim Jae-hwa’s Choi Doo-young has only been cooking for one year, but she is excellent at organizing ingredients and keeping the kitchen clean. Lee Bong-jun’s Park Geon-woo ran his own restaurant at 23 and holds a traditional Korean liquor sommelier certification.
