Gauahar Khan has publicly criticised Aasif Khan for a comment he made on Bigg Boss 20 about men without moustaches not being “real men.” The former Bigg Boss 7 winner shared her disappointment on Instagram, questioning why the Panchayat actor would display what she called narrow thinking on a national reality show.
Aasif Khan, who entered the Salman Khan-hosted show earlier this month, made the remark during a captaincy task in the latest episode. What Aasif Khan Said During the Captaincy Task
The controversy began during a task where housemates had to stamp “rejected” on contestants they did not want to see become captain. When Gullu put the rejected stamp on Yung DSA’s face, he explained that Yung believed he was running the entire house. Gullu also pointed out that Yung had been shaping the moustaches of everyone in his group in the same way, suggesting he expected others to follow his preferences.
Aasif, who received the majority of the rejected stamps, defended Yung on the moustache issue. He said:
“Hum naa Rajasthan se aate hain, yeh mooch humari pehchaan hai, aur muchmundo ko mardon mein consider nahi karte hum. Isliye daadi aisi hai.”
Translated, this means: “We come from Rajasthan. This moustache is our identity, and we don’t consider men without moustaches to be real men.”
The comment did not sit well with several housemates. Gullu responded by pointing out that many people, including the show’s host Salman Khan, do not keep moustaches. Mahhi Vij also objected, saying that being a “real man” is not about facial hair.
“Inhone bola real mard aise hote hain, real mard bilkul aise nahi hote. Real mard ghar ko jod kar rakhte hain, naaki inke tarah aggressive hote hai.”
This translates to: “He said real men are like this, real men are not at all like this. Real men keep their family together, rather than being aggressive like him.”
Gauahar Khan’s Sharp Response on Instagram
Gauahar Khan took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the incident. She acknowledged Aasif’s acting career while expressing her disappointment at his behaviour on the show. She wrote:
“Yaar, I have a question, Asif ka career toh acting mein bohat accha chal raha hai naa, he shouldn’t have come on the show to showcase such small thinking and really silly behaviour. When that girl was dissing Uditi, in the most low manner, he was enjoying like they are all his thoughts. Felt bad seeing that. Such a good actor par Har cheez Mein aisi soch choti lagti hai.”
She then directly addressed the moustache remark, adding:
“Mard ki nishaani mooch hoti hai hhahahah islam mein toh musalman mard ke liye sunnah is no moonch, has he forgotten that???? Mard ki nishaani uski unchi soch aur behaviour hoti hai! Wish he knew that!”
In plain English, Gauahar said that a man’s true identity comes from his broad-minded thinking and behaviour, not from whether he has a moustache. She also pointed out that in Islam, the Sunnah for Muslim men is to not keep a moustache, questioning whether Aasif had forgotten this.

The comment also drew sharp criticism on X, where users called out Aasif’s remarks. Several users pointed to Salman Khan, who also sports a clean-shaven look. One user wrote, “Even Salman Khan doesn’t have a moustache.” Another comment read, “Such a sick mentality.” A third user said, “Salman doesn’t have too, he will again be bashed in Weekend Ka Vaar.”
