Netflix’s upcoming drama The Trunk has released new teasers, offering a glimpse into its mysterious and emotionally complex storyline.

A Marriage Built on Secrets

Based on a novel, The Trunk follows the story of Noh In Ji (Seo Hyun Jin), an employee at NM (New Marriage), an agency offering contract marriages, and Han Jeong Won (Gong Yoo), a man who enters into a contract marriage in an attempt to preserve the remnants of his past marriage. Despite their physical closeness, the couple shares an emotional distance, which is emphasized in the newly released poster. Their sad gazes suggest deep backstories, and the light illuminating them hints at the changes they might bring to each other’s lives.

The promotional tagline reads, “Truths and lies, wrath and longing. A marriage entangled in secrets,” setting the tone for this emotionally charged drama.

The Mystery of the Trunk

The teaser raises the stakes with a mysterious murder case involving a trunk discovered by a lake. Han Jeong Won becomes the focal point of the investigation after the trunk is linked to him. When questioned about the trunk, Han Jeong Won reveals, “My wife used to use it.” The detective then asks, “Which wife?” adding a layer of intrigue to the unfolding story.

Despite the initial coldness, Noh In Ji starts to make her way into Han Jeong Won’s heart, making him uneasy about the growing connection. As their relationship evolves, Han Jeong Won reflects, “She makes me uneasy,” hinting at the complex dynamics of their contract marriage.

Tensions Build as the Truth Unfolds

The teaser also introduces Han Jeong Won’s ex-wife, Lee Seo Yeon (Jung Yun Ha), who insists on the marriage’s existence and pushes for a divorce. Noh In Ji, sensing the tension, asks, “Aren’t you here because you’re worried the fake relationship might become real?” As the teaser ends, Han Jeong Won suggests, “We might be destined to be together,” adding further complexity to the couple’s journey.

The mystery deepens with the unexplained trunk and an unfamiliar man who asks Han Jeong Won, “Do you feel Noh In Ji’s become your real wife or something?”
