Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage made his guest appearance on the CBS comedy Ghosts on April 16, 2026. The 17-year-old actor played a fictional version of himself who visits Woodstone Mansion to join a high-stakes poker game. Shortly after the episode aired, Armitage opened up about his deep love for the show and his joy at reuniting with a former co-star from Young Sheldon.

Armitage, who spent seven seasons playing the young genius Sheldon Cooper, has been a dedicated Ghosts viewer since the beginning. He told TV Insider that he has been asking to be on the show for a very long time.

“I’ve been a massive fan of Ghosts for a really, really, really, really long time. Pretty much a day one US Ghosts fan. It’s one of the only shows that I will always watch On the Night It Airs really consistently.” – Iain Armitage

The actor explained that he would have accepted any role, no matter how small, just to work with the cast and crew. He said he was “overjoyed” when he got the email that a guest spot might be possible and became even more excited after reading the script because it was hilarious. Armitage mentioned that he had never played a heightened version of himself before, which made the experience special.

Reuniting with Danielle Pinnock on the Ghosts Set

The guest appearance brought Armitage together again with Danielle Pinnock, who plays the Jazz-age spirit Alberta on Ghosts. Pinnock previously appeared on Young Sheldon as Ms. Ingram, the math teacher. Armitage described the reunion as a full-circle moment.

“She is so talented and so funny, and I’ve always said she’s one of my favorite actresses to work with. She brings such a great energy to every set I’ve worked with her on.” – Iain Armitage on working again with Danielle Pinnock

Armitage also shared that many crew members on Ghosts were people he had worked with on previous shows. He said it was fun to see familiar faces again and that the entire experience felt comfortable and exciting at the same time.

Armitage Jokes About Getting Killed Off the Show

During his interview, Armitage made a playful suggestion about his future on the series. He joked that he would love to be killed off on Ghosts so that he could come back as a spirit. He pointed out that as a living character, he cannot see or interact with the ghosts directly. Becoming a ghost would allow him to join in on the comedy more openly.

Armitage said he would even accept a temporary death just to get the chance to interact with the spectral characters in a more obvious way. He mentioned that Isaac, played by Brandon Scott Jones, always makes him laugh, and he found it frustrating not being able to join in on the sharp jokes happening around him. He also named Alberta and Hetty as characters that crack him up.

When asked which Young Sheldon star he would like to see join Ghosts, Armitage did not hesitate. He said Annie Potts would be perfect for the show, especially because of her previous work on another ghost-related property, Ghostbusters.

Fans React to the Guest Appearance

Viewers took to social media to share their excitement about seeing Armitage on Ghosts. Many fans noticed how much he has grown since his early days as Sheldon Cooper, though they agreed that his comedic timing remains sharp.

One fan wrote, “WHAT OMG MY FAV ACTOR ON MY SECOND FAV SHOW?” Another commented, “Congratulations!! We can’t wait to watch! Forever will thank you for being so kind to my boys when we met you in London. We tell everyone what a gem of a human you are.”

The official Ghosts Instagram account had previously announced Armitage’s guest role, calling him “one of our biggest fans.” Armitage replied to the post, saying, “Dreams can come true! I’ve loved this show since the beginning and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at Woodstone!! CAN’T WAIT!!!!!”

Armitage Talks About His ‘Rebrand’ After Young Sheldon

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Armitage spoke about how this role allows him to show a different side of himself. He joked that he is going through a rebrand and that his fictional character on Ghosts is trying to be edgy.

The episode features Armitage’s character explaining that he was cast in a gritty poker movie and is doing research at the Woodstone game. When someone brings him apple juice, he orders a “Pepsi straight up” to prove how serious he is about his new image.

Armitage told Us Weekly that he is proud of the work he did on Young Sheldon and is not running away from that role. He said he simply enjoys the chance to switch things up and do something totally different. He also mentioned that he would love to appear on the Young Sheldon spin-off Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage if the opportunity comes up.

“I really found the opportunity to play an upscale and little bit annoying version of myself.” – Iain Armitage
