IVE are one day away from their first release in about eight months, and the group has already shown fans what the new era looks like. Starship Entertainment shared the music video teaser for “Looks Can Kill” across IVE’s official social media channels on October 16 and 17, with short-form clips also going out on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram. The title track is set to arrive on October 19 at 6 PM KST, one week before the mini album of the same name lands on October 26.

The teasers move IVE into a full superhero concept. An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo each play a different hero with her own color, name, and power. The clips mix behind-the-scenes footage with action scenes built like a comic book film, giving the comeback a clear visual identity.

First Teaser Starts on the Film Set

The October 16 teaser opens with the members getting hair and makeup done and fixing their outfits. They pose for the camera, throw hand-gun gestures, and gather for a group shot. The scene then changes, and the six members appear in hero suits built around their signature colors.

The group walks through a street filled with burning cars and cracked ground. The video ends with the members preparing for wire action, a clapperboard, and a director calling “Action.” Behind-the-scenes stills released the same day show the members resting in the waiting room and joking with each other, a calm contrast to the hero footage.

Second Teaser Adds Swords, Sparks, and Wire Work

The October 17 teaser leans harder into action. Members face off with swords, jump through the air on wires, and land hard on the ground. An Yujin controls lightning in one of the most dramatic shots. The clip closes with all six members standing in a dark street and reaching out together, with sparks bursting from their fingertips as they make shooting gestures.

The two teasers were also cut into short vertical clips for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram. The short versions carried the same hero visuals in a faster format, fitting the way K-pop fans now find new music on mobile feeds.

Each Member Gets a Hero Name and Color

A set of behind-the-scenes photos gave fans the first look at the group’s hero names: Captain Purple, Wonder Green, Jean Yellow, Bat Pink, Super Blue, and Spider Red. The names borrow from familiar classic heroes and add each member’s signature color.

  • Rei — Jean Yellow
  • Jang Wonyoung — Bat Pink
  • Liz — Super Blue
  • Leeseo — Spider Red

The idea behind the concept is that every member is a lead hero, not a side character. IVE have built the mini album around the message that anyone can be the main character and hero of their own life.

Short Dance Clip Gave an Early Taste of the Chorus

A short-form dance video arrived before the teasers, on October 12. IVE posted a preview audio clip and a challenge video on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. An Yujin, Gaeul, and Jang Wonyoung appear in the clip inside the group’s “Hero Academy” setting. They perform a playful gun-shaped hand move before stretching their arms out for a stronger section of the choreography.

The preview included the repeated hook:

“Looks can kill, we’re so lethal”

That line gave fans their first listen to the song and their first look at the key dance move at the same time.

Track Credits and Sound

“Looks Can Kill” opens with a strong synth pad rhythm and builds into a heavy, rough bass with drums and electronic sound. The lyrics were written by Seo Ji Eum, Lil Cherry, and IVE member Rei. The song is built around IVE’s confident presence, with a repeated chorus and playful lines.

The mini album follows IVE’s earlier character ideas, moving from Cupid and the magical girl to a new persona called the “Girl Hero.” The six members each bring a different personality and ability, then come together as one team.
