The new British version of Saturday Night Live has announced its next star pairing. Comedian Jack Whitehall will take over hosting duties for the April 11 episode, with singer Jorja Smith joining as the musical guest.

The show, which launched in March 2026 on Sky and NOW, continues building its first season with high-profile names. Whitehall steps into the role for the fourth episode, following hosts Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Riz Ahmed.

Jack Whitehall Brings Comedy Experience to the SNL UK Stage

Jack Whitehall, 37, is a well-known face in British entertainment. He has built a career through stand-up comedy, acting, and hosting major events like the BRIT Awards. His television roles include Bad Education and Fresh Meat, and he has appeared in films such as Jungle Cruise.

Whitehall is expected to deliver the show’s signature opening monologue and take part in sketches throughout the 75-minute broadcast. His comedy style is known for being bold and sharp, which fits the live sketch format. He also hosted the BRIT Awards earlier this year, where his jokes drew attention.

The comedian will be working with the SNL UK cast, which includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.

Jorja Smith Takes the Stage as Musical Guest

Joining Whitehall is Jorja Smith, 28, an acclaimed R&B and soul singer. She released her second album, Falling or Flying, in 2023. Smith is also scheduled to headline London’s All Points East Festival in August alongside Tems.

Her performance on SNL UK will mark another major television appearance for the artist, who has built a strong following with hits like Be Honest and Blue Lights. She will perform two songs during the live broadcast.

What to Expect from the April 11 Episode

The episode will follow the established SNL format. It includes an opening monologue from the host, topical sketches, and the Weekend Update segment adapted for a British audience. The show is written, rehearsed, and performed live within the same week, keeping the energy fresh and current.

The SNL UK production team includes Lorne Michaels as executive producer, the same role he has held on the American version since 1975. James Longman serves as lead producer, Liz Clare directs, and Daran Jonno Johnson is the head writer.

Upcoming Schedule and First Season Details

The April 11 episode with Whitehall and Smith comes right after the April 4 show hosted by Riz Ahmed with musical guest Kasabian.

After Whitehall’s episode, the show will take a one-week break. It returns on April 25 for four more episodes, completing the first season. The series was originally planned for six episodes but was extended to eight before the premiere.

The debut season kicked off on March 21 with Tina Fey hosting and Wet Leg performing. The second episode on March 28 featured Jamie Dornan with Wolf Alice. Reviews for the early episodes noted the show’s distinct British comedy style, with darker and more deadpan sketches compared to the U.S. version.

How to Watch SNL UK

Viewers in the UK can watch SNL UK live on Sky and stream on NOW at 10 p.m. local time on Saturdays. For audiences in the United States, episodes become available on Peacock the day after they air in the UK.
