The popular dark fantasy manga Kagurabachi has returned from its summer break. Chapter 131 arrived on August 30, 2026, bringing fans back into the intense world of enchanted blades and clan warfare. The chapter picks up right after the dramatic events of Chapter 130, where Kunishige and his group worked to forge a weapon from Datenseki to save Chiaki.
The manga went on a temporary pause starting from Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 31, which was released on June 29, 2026. The official Kagurabachi X (formerly Twitter) account announced the break, explaining that creator Takeru Hokazono needed rest to maintain the quality of the series. The serialization was scheduled to resume in August 2026.
Chapter 131 Puts the Spotlight on Chiaki and the Soga Clan
Chapter 131 shifts the focus to Chiaki and the Soga clan. The Soga have made preparations to hand her over to the Mikobashi. They use a forbidden spell to suppress her personality and will, making her easier to control. Akemura is also shown bound with chains, highlighting the dangerous situation Chiaki is in.
The chapter builds tension as everything seems set against Chiaki. But Kunishige arrives at the critical moment. Despite all the efforts to break her spirit, Chiaki embraces Kunishige, showing the deep connection between them. This moment has been building over several chapters, as Kunishige worked tirelessly to forge a weapon that could save her.
“The moment he saves her from her fate as she hugs him showing the love we have been told is there.”

Why Kagurabachi Went on Hiatus
The break was necessary for Takeru Hokazono’s health and well-being. The fast-paced schedule of Weekly Shonen Jump can be demanding. The editor’s message explained that after discussions with Hokazono, they agreed he needed rest to continue producing the series at a high level.
Fans showed understanding and support for the decision. The one-month break gave Hokazono time to recharge. The series resumed as promised in August 2026.
What Happened Before Chapter 131
Chapter 130 showed a major breakthrough. The Datenseki was successfully processed, and tamahagane made from raw Datenseki was recovered from a collapsed furnace. The chapter also shifted focus to the Sorcery Bureau as they tried to control the Datenseki crisis.
The story has been building toward this reunion between Kunishige and Chiaki. The previous chapters showed Kunishige and his group holding off the Masumi while trying to make the Datenseki forgeable. Kunishige stayed despite the danger to save the woman he loves.
