The science fiction epic Kalki 2898 AD continues to dominate the box office weeks after its release. Director Nag Ashwin recently shared updates on the highly anticipated sequel, revealing some exciting details for fans.
Shooting for the sequel is underway: While the film’s success is still sinking in, Ashwin confirmed that filming for the second part has already begun. “The next one is a while off because it’s not really shot yet. It’s shot for about 20 to 30 days,” he said in an interview, estimating that roughly 20 percent of the film is complete.
Kamal Haasan’s character takes center stage: The director hinted that the sequel might see a power shift, with antagonist Supreme Yaskin (played by Kamal Haasan) potentially playing a more prominent role. “We have to get that right,” Ashwin said, emphasizing the importance of certain scenes involving Haasan’s character.
Showdown with Yaskin: In another interview, Ashwin elaborated on the sequel’s plot, teasing an epic confrontation. “Every loose end or thread that we left hanging has to be wrapped up,” he explained. “Obviously, the most important thing will be the face-off between these three, which will be between Yaskin who can now wield the Gandiva, which is thought to be the most powerful weapon, versus Karna and Ashwatthama, who are the most fearsome warriors.” This suggests a thrilling battle between Yaskin and the warriors Karna and Ashwatthama.
With filming underway and a focus on unresolved plot threads, Kalki 2898 AD‘s sequel is shaping up to be an action-packed continuation of the sci-fi saga.
