Pakistani actress Mahira Khan recently shared a disturbing encounter on social media. During an appearance at the Pakistan Literature Festival in Quetta, someone from the audience hurled an object at her while she was on stage. Taking to Instagram, the actress addressed the incident in a lengthy post, condemning the act and calling for a more positive approach.

Mahira Khan Shares Experience in Detailed Instagram Post

Mahira posted a video from the event alongside a powerful message. “What happened at the event was uncalled for,” she wrote, firmly stating that throwing anything at a performer, even a seemingly harmless object like a flower in a paper plane, is unacceptable. She admitted feeling scared, not just for herself but also for others who might find themselves in similar situations.

The actress revealed that after the event, some suggested cancelling future festivals in Quetta. However, Mahira strongly disagreed with this solution. She highlighted the massive crowd of over 10,000 people who expressed their excitement and love, albeit in an unconventional way. She acknowledged that the crowd’s enthusiasm might have been difficult to contain or express appropriately. Importantly, she emphasized that the culprit was just one individual out of a sea of supportive fans.

Looking Forward: Education and Unity Through More Events

Mahira pondered various possibilities to prevent similar incidents in the future. She questioned if she should have reacted differently, if stricter crowd control measures could have been implemented, or if she shouldn’t have participated in the event altogether. Ultimately, she concluded that the answer lies in increasing the number of such events across Pakistan. Her belief is that with more exposure, public awareness and education will improve. She stressed the importance of normalizing these events to witness the positive impact they can have.

Mahira envisions a future where cultural exchange and understanding flourish between cities and their people. She spoke fondly of the amazing people she met in Quetta, the beautiful setting, the delicious food, and the shared stories, laughter, and plans for her return visit. Despite the scare, Mahira expressed her love for Quetta and the overwhelming amount of love she received. She confidently declared that there would be a next time, and that all parties involved would be better prepared for a positive experience.
