Marvel Comics has officially revealed the new female character stepping into a Doctor Strange-style role. Paulina, a former employee of Boothe Media, takes on the superhero identity Sightseer in Ultimate Impact: Reborn #5, which arrives on September 30, 2026. The reveal comes with her full costume design, a blue and gold look inspired by Doctor Strange’s classic robes and the Eye of Agamotto.
The character first appeared earlier in the Ultimate Impact: Reborn series as a journalist who accidentally opens a mysterious Origin Box. That box contains the powers of Earth-6160’s Mystic Arts, essentially giving her an artificial version of the Eye of Agamotto. Unlike traditional Marvel sorcerers who spend years studying magic, Paulina gains her abilities instantly and has to figure out how to use them on her own.
Who Is Paulina and How Did She Get Her Powers
Paulina works at Boothe Media under the control of Orson Boothe, a media mogul who becomes one of the series’ main antagonists. In Ultimate Impact: Reborn #5, Boothe uses the Purple Man’s mind-control powers to order Paulina to jump off a building. Her Sightseer abilities activate just in time. She begins flying instinctively, summons her own version of Doctor Strange’s costume, and upgrades her phoropter into a colorful version of the original device.
The phoropter is a key part of her story. She first picked up a discarded one from an alley in an earlier issue. That eye-exam tool became the prototype for her superhero look. As Sightseer, she wears it to focus her Origin Box powers, which let her see beyond the normal veil of reality.
What Sightseer’s Costume Looks Like
Paulina’s Sightseer costume is a clear reinvention of Doctor Strange’s traditional clothing. Instead of blue robes with a red cloak, she wears a blue tunic framed by thick gold trim. The tunic flows into a segmented, skirted lower half. A flowing cape is attached underneath, and a prominent circular gold emblem sits at the center of her chest, resembling Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto.
Her magic appears as blue energy, though it could change color later. The design carries a Ms. Marvel vibe with its colors and robe style, while also drawing from Steve Ditko’s classic magical realms. Marvel has described Sightseer as a character who can “see beyond the veil,” and her codename reflects that ability.
How Her Powers Differ From Other Marvel Sorcerers
Sightseer’s magical awakening goes against the usual rules of the Mystic Arts. Sorcerers like Doctor Strange and Wong spend years in grueling study and spiritual training to manipulate magic. Paulina, by contrast, accidentally opened an Origin Box based on Earth-6160’s Mystic Arts and found herself artificially injected with an equivalent of the Eye of Agamotto.
She had no preparation and no awareness of what the device actually gave her. She becomes a full-fledged sorcerer superhero before she fully understands what has happened to her. A typical Marvel sorcerer must train intensely just to look beyond the physical plane or manifest mystical constructs. Sightseer almost instantly gains the ability to see invisible entities behind the normal veil of reality. She also achieves independent flight without relying on magical crutches like levitation platforms or the magical equivalent to Iron Man’s repulsors.
The Origin Boxes and the Ultimate Impact: Reborn Story
The Origin Boxes are devices from a destroyed alternate reality that hold the powers of iconic Marvel characters. When they are scattered across Earth-616, random civilians open them and gain new abilities. Paulina receives an Origin Box containing the Eye of Agamotto from Earth-6160. Vin Lerner receives one tied to Wonder Man. Orson Boothe gets a diamond tied to the Juggernaut. Hostilicus gets Captain Mar-Vell’s powers.
Ultimate Impact: Reborn #5 is written by Chris Condon with art by Stefano Caselli and colors by David Curiel. The cover is by Leinil Francis Yu. The issue runs 32 pages and is priced at $4.99. The story sees Miles Morales and his allies, Captain America and Iron Man, draw a line against Hostilicus. The issue asks which side the Origin Box-powered Wonder Man, Sightseer, and Mogul will choose.
What This Reveal Means for Doctor Strange’s Role
Doctor Strange is widely considered the best Sorcerer Supreme in Marvel history, but his mystical authority is not defined by one title. When Strange steps away or dies, the universe demands a replacement to protect the dimensional barriers. Classic substitutes have included Doctor Voodoo, Jericho Drumm, and even Loki. Wong has managed Kamar-Taj and the Sanctum Sanctorum’s archives. Clea, Strange’s partner from the Dark Dimension, has taken control of his mystical sanctums to ward off interdimensional threats.
Paulina now proves her worth as another potential successor. Her arrival does not replace Doctor Strange in the main Marvel continuity. It adds a new character to the magical side of the universe, one whose powers come from a completely different source. If Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch fully retire, Sightseer could rewrite what it means to be a magic user in the Marvel Universe.
