Episode 8 Recap: Deep Divide
Episode 8, titled Deep Divide, delivered one of the most shocking moments of the series so far. Araki’s secret was revealed to the Police Hopper team, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere among the members. While the team was still processing this revelation, a game announcement arrived. Their opponent was none other than Diabolic Ghost.
Stella and the others decided to face Diabolic Ghost without Araki, thinking it would be a good way to blow off steam. However, they discovered a devastating truth: Araki had joined Diabolic Ghost.
Stella’s anger boiled over as she shouted, “Why…”. Despite Haruto and Shousei still struggling to process the situation, Stella pushed forward with determination to defeat Diabolic Ghost.
The game was a tail capture match where teams had to secure the king tail protected within each other’s territory. Stella, determined to defeat Diabolic Ghost at any cost, made plans and pushed forward even with fewer members. Meanwhile, Cruz ordered Araki to use his prediction ability to foresee Stella’s team movements and pass that information to Diabolic Ghost members. Araki’s ruthless actions only made Stella angrier.
What Happens in Episode 9: Empty Crown
Episode 9, titled Empty Crown, continues directly from the cliffhanger. Araki’s life with Diabolic Ghost begins, and viewers finally get to see what daily life looks like for this rival team. The episode shows their everyday routines, something audiences have not had the chance to see before.
The most shocking moment comes when Araki witnesses Cruz’s violence toward Spica. Araki already knew Cruz treated Spica harshly, but he never imagined it was this bad. However, Spica tells Araki she is tough and can handle it. She also reveals that Cruz is actually going through much harder times.
A game takes place during the episode. Diabolic Ghost members value Araki’s abilities highly and keep asking for more instructions. Araki receives dust supply from Cruz, which boosts his calculation abilities beyond normal levels. He uses this enhanced power to predict opponent movements and support Diabolic Ghost members.
As a result, Diabolic Ghost defeats Lamps and Hiiro one-sidedly. They then move on to face February Roars in battle.
Suzaku, angered by Diabolic Ghost’s relentless attacks day after day, decides to stop them with her own hands. She heads toward the game called Shinkatsushika Chess to confront them.
