The Traitors Season 2 started with a big shock. Munawar Faruqui, the winner of Bigg Boss 17 and Lock Upp season 1, got eliminated on the very first day of the show. The comedian-rapper was voted out during the first ‘Circle of Shaq’ round, leaving both the contestants and viewers surprised.

Hosted by Karan Johar, the reality show premiered on August 13, 2026, on Amazon Prime Video. The first three episodes brought high drama, betrayal, and unexpected twists. But the biggest talking point was Munawar’s early exit.

Munawar Faruqui Says He Was Targeted From The Start

Munawar entered the game with a strong reputation. He had already won two major reality shows and was seen as one of the strongest players in the competition. But that very reputation worked against him.

In an exclusive chat with Hindustan Times, Munawar opened up about his eviction. He admitted that he was really upset after being voted out. He said that everyone in the game knew he was not a traitor, but they still voted him out.

“Waha pe pehle din hi jo kuch bhi hua usse sab ko pata chal gaya tha ki main traitor nahi hoon. Everyone knew that I was not the traitor after what happened on the first day. I was playing the game to catch the traitor with everyone. Even though everyone knew I am not the traitor still they gave my name just to get me out… toh main bohot upset hua, mujhe bohot bura laga.”

He also told Times Now that he felt bad after the majority of contestants voted against him. In another interview with CNN-News18, Munawar said that the other contestants had already made up their minds because of his popularity.

“I was on an even bigger level than a Traitor on that show. That’s why all of them decided to eliminate me first.”

What Happened During The Circle of Shaq

The first ‘Circle of Shaq’ round created a lot of tension. During this round, Munawar openly named Mallika Sherawat as his pick for the traitor. But instead of the focus shifting to Mallika, several contestants turned against Munawar.

They claimed that he was playing like a traitor and voted him out. Munawar received the highest number of votes and got eliminated. The real traitors at that point were Kullu (Aaditya Kulshreshth), Krystle D’Souza, and Harman Singha. Shahneel Gill was later recruited as the fourth traitor in the second episode.

Before the reveal, Munawar went to the centre of the room and said he had expected this to happen.

“I had expected this to happen to me. I knew I would have to face it. This often happens to me. It is not the first time. This is not the first time that I have been targeted. Call me a soft target or someone too good to be there. I can clearly see through the insecurities of other people.”

Munawar’s Emotional Outburst After Elimination

When host Karan Johar asked Munawar to reveal whether he was a traitor or an innocent, the comedian became emotional. He did not hold back and lashed out at his fellow contestants.

“F* off, guys! I was playing the game! I wanted to play it well! I am an innocent! F* off, insecure bunch of people. They thought I would eat them up here. They are all scared. Now recognise who is the one amongst you.”

He also accused the contestants of acting out of insecurity and betrayal. He said that people approached him as a friend and heard him out, but then wrote his name for elimination.

Other Contestants Also Reacted To Munawar’s Eviction

Munawar’s elimination became a major topic of discussion even after he left the game. In the third episode, several contestants continued talking about why his name was brought up. Parul Gulati, Ranveer Brar, and Rhea Chakraborty slammed the herd mentality that led to Munawar’s eviction.

Many of them even called it a ‘surgical strike’ against Munawar to target him on the very first day.

Prish, another contestant, was particularly clear about wanting Munawar out. He said that he wanted Munawar out of the game no matter what, whether he was a traitor or an innocent, because he was a very smart player.

Munawar Says He Has Moved On

Even though Munawar was hurt by his early elimination, he says he has now moved on. In his interview with Hindustan Times, he said that being eliminated is part of the game and not everyone can win.

“Now I am over it, because that is part of the game and everyone cannot win. Only one can take the title and if one group has targeted me then what can I do? I tried my best on the circle of shaq and it was never that I was quiet over there… I defended myself as much as I could. But that did not work in my favour. But I am okay now I am over it (smiles) I am bigger than that.”

He also told News18 that he was hurt about getting evicted in the first episode itself. He said, “Bahut bharosa toota mera” (my trust was broken).

Fans React On Social Media

Munawar’s elimination sparked a lot of reactions on social media. Many fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts.

Some fans felt that Munawar was responsible for his own exit. One user wrote, “It’s actually his fault. Everyone knows that he is super smart. Should have stayed low key for the first few episodes and then played his game.”

Another fan said, “He was pissed by the herd mentality.”

A third user added, “He’s right though, those who thought they won’t be able to control the flow in his presence thought removing him was a good option.”

Some fans also pointed out that Munawar was targeted because he was seen as a threat. One user wrote, “I Would’ve done the same.”

Other Eliminations In The First Week

Munawar was not the only one who left the show in the first week. Dalip Tahil, who made his reality TV debut with the show, became the first eviction on day 1. During the opening task, contestants were asked to distribute gold coins among themselves. Dalip received the lowest share and was eliminated.

Karan Singh Magic became the traitors’ first murder victim on the first night. Soundous Moufakir was also murdered for being too dangerous to keep around. Harman Singha was exposed as the first traitor to be caught.
