Jeon Yeo Been, known for her role in Vincenzo, takes on a challenging new character in the upcoming South Korean horror film Dark Nuns. The film introduces audiences to Sister Michaela, a role that sees Jeon grappling with faith and forbidden rituals to save a child possessed by an evil spirit.
On December 18, 2024, the film’s production team shared new stills featuring Jeon Yeo Been as Sister Michaela. The images depict her in her nun’s habit, her expression serious, indicative of the internal struggle her character faces. Another photo captures her in a more casual setting but with an evident burden of decision, highlighting the depth of her role.
Sister Michaela is a psychiatry resident and a disciple of Father Paolo (played by Lee Jin Uk), whose world is turned upside down when she encounters phenomena that defy medical science. Initially skeptical of Sister Junia (portrayed by Song Hye Kyo), Michaela’s curiosity is ignited by Junia’s determination to save the young boy, Hee Joon, from demonic possession.
Dark Nuns, also known as The Priests 2: Dark Nuns, serves as a sequel to the 2015 hit The Priests. This film continues the narrative of battling evil spirits, focusing now on two nuns, Sister Junia and Sister Michaela, who navigate through chaos to rescue Hee Joon.
Song Hye Kyo, celebrated for her role in The Glory, plays Sister Junia with expected finesse, while Jeon Yeo Been adds a layer of complexity to the story with her portrayal of Sister Michaela. Their collaboration has significantly raised the anticipation for this cinematic experience.
Dark Nuns is scheduled for release on January 24, 2025, promising fans a thrilling dive into the supernatural with a focus on the battle between faith and science.
