Episode 7 of Perfect Crown delivered the royal wedding fans had been waiting for, but happiness turned to horror within minutes. IU‘s character Seong Hui-ju collapsed right after the ceremony ended, and everyone at the palace watched in shock as Byeon Woo-seok‘s character Grand Prince I-an held his unconscious wife. The episode aired on May 1, 2026, and pulled in strong numbers. It scored 11.1% ratings in the capital region and 10.8% nationwide, with a peak minute rating of 14.3% during the wedding procession scene.
Wedding Joy Turns Into Nightmare
The episode started with Hui-ju trying to process the yacht kiss from episode 6. She felt awkward around I-an the next morning and tried to leave for work without telling him. But he caught her outside and even saved her from falling. She could not stop noticing his eyes and lips, making things very uncomfortable for her.
I-an went to handle his royal duties while Hui-ju visited a church to clear her head. Later, the couple prepared for their wedding by choosing outfits. Hui-ju kept avoiding eye contact with I-an, but his small gestures made her heart race anyway.
The wedding day finally arrived. The couple followed many traditional royal ceremonies at I-an‘s private residence first. They were officially declared husband and wife there. Then they greeted the nation and moved toward the main palace.
Everything seemed perfect when they arrived at the palace. They paid respects to the king and Queen Dowager. But when Hui-ju tried to greet Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo (played by Noh Sang-hyun), she suddenly could not speak. She fainted on the spot.
Was Hui-ju Poisoned or Just Exhausted?
The ending leaves everyone with one big question. Did someone poison the new bride? Or did she just collapse from a long, tiring day?
Grand Prince I-an, holding her unconscious body, was filled with fear and shock, and the wedding venue turned into chaos.
The Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang (played by Gong Seung-yeon) and her father have been planning to cause problems in I-an‘s life. Many viewers suspect they might be behind this sudden collapse. Others think Hui-ju might have been targeted by someone else who does not want her to become a royal family member.
I-an Confesses His Real Feelings
Before the wedding, the episode also showed a key moment between the leads. During a family dinner at Hui-ju’s house, she got upset with her father‘s fake concern. She stormed out, and I-an followed her to comfort her.
That is when Hui-ju asked him directly if he had feelings for her. I-an did not hesitate. He told her he likes her. But he also made it clear he would never do anything she does not like.
Grand Prince I-an does not hesitate and reveals to Hui-ju that he likes her. However, he has no intention of doing anything that she doesn’t like.
The contract marriage rules between them have completely blurred. What started as a business deal is now turning into something real.
Royal Secrets Come to Light
Episode 7 also dropped major information about the late king. I-an has proof of the king‘s royal command written before he died. The document says the king wanted to leave the throne to his younger brother I-an. The king’s seal is on it, and it dates back to the day a fire broke out because of Yi-rang, who left her husband to die.
This evidence gives I-an real power against those who want to remove him from the palace. But it also makes him a bigger target.
