The show follows Rapp, played by Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek). He is a private investigator who arrives in a small fishing town. His job is to find Henry Park, a missing young heir to a powerful fishery business. Williams plays Henry Park, the missing person at the center of the chaos.

“Yaga is the kind of bold, genre-bending storytelling that we look for on AMC+ to complement our core franchises and super-serve our passionate and discerning fanbases.” — Courtney Thomasma, EVP of Linear & Streaming Products for AMC Global Media.

Things get dangerous for Rapp immediately. He clashes with a suspicious local detective named Carson (Clark Backo). He also gets tangled with Katherine, a charming university professor played by Carrie-Anne Moss. The show mixes police work with hints of ancient magic and secret lives.

Hudson Williams Takes on a Dramatic New Role

Showrunner Brings a Feminist Edge to the Folklore

The series comes from the mind of Kat Sandler, who wrote the play the show is based on. Sandler also serves as the writer and showrunner for the TV adaptation. She describes the project as a way to reclaim the old myth and turn it into something new.

Sandler shared her vision for the show, calling it “propulsive, accessible, dark, funny, and unapologetically bold.” She wanted to reshape the “wicked witch” idea into an “incendiary feminist antihero for our time”.
