Police Decline to Reveal Exact Blood Alcohol Content in BTS' SUGA’s Alleged DUI Case

On August 12, the police addressed the reports surrounding SUGA’s blood alcohol content. They firmly stated that the specific figure can not be confirmed.

BTS’ SUGA continues to be in the spotlight due to his ongoing DUI case, which has been generating widespread attention. On August 12, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency addressed the latest reports regarding the rapper’s blood alcohol content, clarifying that the exact figure remains unconfirmed. Despite this, they indicated that the level was sufficient to result in the revocation of his driver’s license.

Police Deny Revealing Blood Alcohol Content, Amidst Conflicting Reports

According to a press conference published by Xports News, the Seoul Metropolitan Police responded to circulating reports about SUGA’s blood alcohol content during the night of August 6. It was previously claimed that his blood alcohol content was around 0.227%, a figure significantly higher than the legal limit in South Korea. However, police have now stated that this specific figure “cannot be confirmed.”

“We can say it is at a level where a license is revoked,” the police added.

In his initial statement to the authorities, SUGA allegedly mentioned that he had consumed just one glass of beer before riding his electric scooter home. Yet, this claim raised doubts as reports indicated his blood alcohol level was between 0.8% to 0.2%, a range typically associated with consuming 4 to 5 drinks within the last two hours.

Uncertainty Remains as Police Confirm Ongoing Investigation

In the days following the incident, new reports emerged suggesting that SUGA’s blood alcohol content might have been 0.227%, which would be approximately seven times higher than the legal limit for driving in South Korea. With the police now stating that they cannot confirm the exact number, attention has turned to whether or not the precise figure will be disclosed in the near future.

Amid these developments, the police also addressed earlier reports about the possibility of SUGA being summoned again. They confirmed that a date is currently being coordinated with the BTS member for him to provide further testimony and assist with the ongoing investigation.

“We are coordinating a date with SUGA. He will soon be called to testify,” the police noted.

However, the police also mentioned that a specific date for his appearance has not yet been set. When questioned about whether SUGA had requested a private appearance, law enforcement clarified that no such request had been made.

Additionally, the authorities confirmed that they have finalized the distance and route traveled by SUGA under the influence of alcohol on August 6. However, this information will not be made public as it may interfere with the ongoing investigation.

Potential Legal Consequences for SUGA

As the investigation continues, the BTS member’s electric scooter has been classified as a non-personal mobility device, which means that SUGA could potentially face criminal charges equivalent to those for drunk driving a car.
