Well-known actress Hwang Jung Eum has found new love amidst her ongoing divorce proceedings.

The 40-year-old actress is now allegedly dating Kim Jong Kyu, a prominent basketball player who is seven years younger. The relationship has been confirmed by Hwang Jung Eum’s representatives, although they refrained from disclosing further details about Kim Jong Kyu.

Hwang Jung Eum, who has been taking a break following the end of her drama The Return of the Seven, is said to have found comfort in Kim during her tumultuous divorce from her husband Lee Young Don.

The couple — who married in 2016 and have two sons — initially faced marital issues in 2020 but reconciled. Unfortunately, they entered divorce mediation again earlier this year.

During this period, Hwang Jung Eum hinted at Lee Young Don’s infidelity on her social media, which led to a legal dispute after she wrongly accused an unrelated individual.

Kim Jong Kyu, who plays for the Wonju DB Promy team, has been a key figure in South Korea’s basketball scene. He has represented the national team for 14 years.

Aside from his sports achievements, Kim is also a successful businessman. In 2022, at the age of 31, he purchased a building in the prestigious Gangnam district of Seoul. The property — initially a two-story structure — was rebuilt into a four-story building, fully owned by Kim under his corporate name.
