Pranit More just broke his silence in the most honest way possible. The stand-up comedian, who has been at the center of the massive ₹370 biryani controversy, posted a video on June 13, 2026, admitting that he messed up badly. In the clip, the Bigg Boss 19 contestant did not make excuses. He did not blame the internet for taking things out of context. Instead, he said three words that caught everyone’s attention: “I deserve the hate”.
What Exactly Happened at the Show
The controversy traces back to a stand-up show in Gurugram. During a crowd-work segment, an audience member named Himanshu Jangra began recounting a dating story. He mentioned spending ₹370 on a plate of chicken biryani for his date. Then things took a dark turn.
Jangra suggested that because he had spent money on the meal, he expected something in return. The audience laughed. More laughed too. He even gave Jangra a ₹5,000 cash prize for the interaction.
A shorter version of the clip went viral first. But then a longer, unedited video surfaced online. It showed Jangra going into graphic detail about how he physically pressured his date. More continued laughing as the story unfolded. The full video turned public anger into a full-blown outrage.
Why Pranit More Says He Deserves the Hate
More posted his apology video after his Instagram account was suspended, which prevented him from speaking sooner. In the video, he did not sugarcoat anything.
“Hello, so I wanted to talk about this for a long time but my Instagram got suspended,” More said. “You all must have seen my crowd work video for which I am getting a lot of hate, and I think I deserve this hate.”
He admitted that he got carried away because everyone around him was laughing. He acknowledged that he had the power to stop the conversation but chose not to.
“Because when I was doing crowd work with that guy, he made a lot of derogatory remarks,” More explained. “I could have stopped him there, or I could have taken a stand. But what I couldn’t do. I gave him a platform because of which these things escalated.”
The Fallout: FIR, NCW Summons, and Job Loss
More is not just facing online backlash. The legal consequences are very real.
- Maharashtra Cyber Police registered an FIR on June 11 at the Nodal Cyber Police Station. The case covers the publication of obscene content under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT Act.
- The National Commission for Women (NCW) took suo motu cognizance of the video. Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar summoned More and Jangra and wrote to the Haryana DGP for an action report.
- Himanshu Jangra lost his job at Starvik Design in Gurugram following the viral clip.
- Another audience member, Dr. Sejal Pawar, also faces legal action for making objectionable remarks about cadavers during the same show.
The Internet Is Not Forgiving Him Easily
More ended his video with a simple request. “I just want to request all of you… Please give me a chance. I will become a better person. This was a learning for me.”
The reaction to his apology has been mixed.
Some users appreciated the honesty. One wrote, “It’s ok life always has ups n downs. Be strong.. be wise what you show to nation in ur shows.” Others felt the apology came too late. Another user commented, “Sympathy card activated.”
A third user summed up the bizarre saga humorously: “Ek 370 ki biriani ne life lesson de diya” (One ₹370 biryani gave a life lesson).
