The show will stream exclusively on Prime Video across 240+ countries and territories. The official synopsis describes the show as a drama that looks closely at the criminal mind and the darkness that hides beneath normal everyday life. The series focuses not just on finding the missing kids but also on how trauma affects people and how guilt and the desire to make things right play a role. The makers say the show is not a typical missing-person thriller. It goes deeper into the psychology of crime and the hard choices people face.

Director Prosit Roy Explains the Dark World of Raakh

Director Prosit Roy has earlier worked on episodes of Paatal Lok, the hit crime series on Prime Video. He returns to the platform with this new project. Roy also serves as executive producer on the show. He spoke about what viewers can expect from the series.

โ€œRaakh has been one of the most creatively fulfilling and emotionally intense projects I have worked on, because at its heart, it goes far beyond being a crime thriller. What excited me most was the opportunity to merge the thrill of a gripping manhunt with an unflinching exploration of trauma and the darker impulses of human nature.โ€

Roy praised his writers and cast for bringing the story to life. He said the showโ€™s creators Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket have built a world that is well-researched and full of moral gray areas. He also called Ali Fazalโ€™s performance quiet but powerful, while Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir brought real intensity to their roles.

Ali Fazal Returns to Crime Genre After Mirzapur Success

Ali Fazal plays the main role of the investigating officer. Fazal is known for his work in Mirzapur on Prime Video and also for Hollywood films like Victoria and Abdul and Death on the Nile. This role shows a different side of the actor as he plays a cop dealing with heavy mental pressure while trying to solve a tough case.

Sonali Bendre makes her return to digital content with Raakh. She was last seen in the newsroom drama The Broken News. Bendre plays an important role in the story that adds emotional weight to the narrative. Aamir Bashir, who appeared in Tiger 3, completes the lead cast. The series also features Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Rakesh Bedi in supporting roles.

The show is produced by Deepak Dhar, Rishi Negi, Mrinalini Jain, and Shyam Rathi under the banner of Endemol Shine India in association with BhaDiPa. The dialogues are written by Ayush Trivedi, who also worked on Indian Police Force.

What Makes Raakh Different From Other Crime Thrillers

The series comes from the creative team behind successful crime dramas. Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket created and wrote the show while also serving as co-directors. Nandakumar has credits on Singham Again, while Saket worked on Indian Police Force before this project.

The showโ€™s name Raakh means ashes, hinting at the destruction and leftover pieces after a fire. The title fits the dark tone of the series, which looks at how crime leaves behind scars that do not easily heal. Makers have described it as a visceral study of the criminal mind, promising a viewing experience that stays with audiences long after the credits roll.
