Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor has laid down some conditions to work with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on their upcoming film, ‘Love and War.’ The movie, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal together for the first time, has already generated buzz in the industry.
According to reports from Bollywood Hungama, Ranbir Kapoor, known for his stellar performances, has presented specific terms to Bhansali for his involvement in the project. Kapoor is committed to allocating a fixed working hours schedule, adhering to a rigorous 270 days of shooting for the film.
The trio of Alia-Ranbir and Alia-Vicky has previously shared the screen, but ‘Love and War’ marks the first collaboration of all three actors in a single project.
Interestingly, Ranbir Kapoor had previously expressed a lack of enthusiasm for Bhansali’s project ‘Baiju Bawra.’ However, it seems the tables have turned as he eagerly accepts the opportunity to work alongside his wife, Alia Bhatt, in ‘Love and War.’
A source close to the film production revealed, “Bhansali is an ardent fan of Ranbir’s work. He has been wanting to collaborate with Ranbir for a long time. Initially, he offered Ranbir the film ‘Baiju Bawra,’ but Ranbir wasn’t excited about the musical period drama. Now, when Bhansali approached him with ‘Love and War,’ Ranbir readily agreed, especially with wife Alia Bhatt on board.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who last collaborated with Alia Bhatt on ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ in 2022, recently announced ‘Love and War,’ set to release next Christmas.
Sources close to the film suggest that Ranbir Kapoor has negotiated specific terms and conditions in his contract. He insisted on shooting as per the agreed timeline, with the makers promising to kickstart the film in November this year and complete the shooting by July next year. Post that, Ranbir Kapoor will be available for his other work commitments starting from August next year.
Ranbir’s past experiences with Bhansali have been less than ideal, as he once revealed in an interview that during the filming of ‘Black,’ Bhansali subjected him to scolding, physical punishment, and prolonged periods of kneeling.
Adding to the contractual stipulations, Ranbir Kapoor has emphasized working within fixed working hours. The actor has committed to dedicating around 270 days to the film, ensuring a disciplined working environment across all departments on the set.
A crucial aspect of the contract negotiation, according to insiders, was Alia Bhatt’s significant role. Allegedly, Alia played a pivotal role in bringing both Ranbir and Bhansali to the table during the discussions. She actively participated in meetings, facilitating a transparent discussion of terms and conditions between the two parties.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Bollywood journey began in 2007 with Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya,’ co-starring Sonam Kapoor. Alia Bhatt, who has previously collaborated with Bhansali on ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi,’ has seamlessly worked her way into the director’s good books. ‘Love and War’ promises to be a significant milestone in the careers of all three talented actors, and fans are eagerly awaiting the cinematic spectacle set to hit the screens next Christmas.
