About the Movie
“Bogota: City of the Lost” (directed by Kim Sung Jae) was released on December 31. The story takes place after the IMF crisis and follows Guk Hee (Song Joong Ki), who goes to Bogota, Colombia, hoping for a better life. In Bogota, he gets involved with important people in the Korean community, Soo Young (Lee Hee Joon) and Park Byung Jang (Kwon Hae Hyo). The movie shows their complicated relationships as Guk Hee tries to make a life for himself in a new country.
Song Joong Ki plays Guk Hee, a young man who wants to climb the social ladder. Lee Hee Joon plays Soo Young, the second-in-command in the Korean smuggling business and a customs broker. Kwon Hae Hyo plays Park Byung Jang, the most powerful person in the Korean community in Bogota. Other actors in the movie include Park Ji Hwan as Park Byung Jang’s ambitious nephew, Park Ja Geun, Jo Hyun Cheol as Soo Young’s helper, Jae Woong, and Kim Jong-su as Guk Hee’s father, Geun Hae.
Production and Release
Filming for “Bogota: City of the Lost” started in December 2019. The movie is now being shown to audiences after almost five years. However, because of the Jeju Air flight crash on December 29, the government announced a national mourning period until January 4. This has led to the temporary stop of the movie’s promotional activities.
Because of this, Song Joong Ki and Lee Hee Joon’s planned appearance on SBS Power FM’s “Park Seon Young’s Cinetown” was canceled.
