Netflix’s upcoming Korean romantic comedy Take Charge of My Heart has dropped a brand-new poster and teaser, showing leads Chae Soo-bin and Kim Young-kwang striking an unusual bargain. The story centers on a wealthy heir whose artificial heart is losing power and a woman whose electric touch can recharge it. The streaming giant confirmed the series will arrive on October 9, 2026, with a global release across all Netflix territories.
What the New Teaser Shows
The teaser opens with Na Bo-bae (Chae Soo-bin), a screenwriter whose life has been difficult because of her electrical powers. Struck by lightning as a child, she developed the ability to generate electric currents, making physical contact with anyone nearly impossible. She wears gloves and keeps her distance from people to avoid hurting them. Then she meets Baek Ho-rang (Kim Young-kwang), a third-generation chaebol heir and executive director at one of the country’s top resorts, who is completely unaffected by her electricity. In one scene, Bo-bae clings to him and asks, “Didn’t you feel anything? Like a tingle or a spark?” while Ho-rang only looks flustered.
The situation flips when Ho-rang’s artificial heart runs out of power. He discovers that his heart battery charges faster the closer he is to Bo-bae. To secure his succession to TS Group, he proposes they live together for three months. He pleads with her to “just save me for three months.” Bo-bae, whose own romantic life has been “discharged,” accepts his offer to complete her “romance bucket list” for a drama script she is writing. Their “charging contract” is formed.
The Charging Contract at the Center of the Story
The deal between the two leads is simple on paper. Ho-rang needs Bo-bae’s electric touch to keep his artificial heart running for three months until he can receive another surgery. In return, he helps her experience the romantic moments she has never been able to have, which she needs to finish her screenplay before her writer contract expires.
The main poster captures this dynamic. Bo-bae is surrounded by pink electric currents while Ho-rang stands beside her with an indifferent expression, true to their contract. The teaser poster shows the two holding hands as sparks fly and Ho-rang’s heart charges, setting the tone for a romantic comedy built on an unusual premise.
Cast and New Characters
Kim Young-kwang plays Baek Ho-rang, a cool and collected third-generation chaebol heir who leads TS Resort. He is a perfectionist workaholic and a strong candidate to take over his family’s conglomerate, but his artificial heart is his only weakness. This marks Kim Young-kwang’s return to the romantic comedy genre after a string of serious roles.
Chae Soo-bin plays Na Bo-bae, a lovely screenwriter with a looming deadline to finish a romance screenplay before her contract expires. Her electric ability has kept her single her entire life. Chae Soo-bin previously appeared in Netflix’s When the Phone Rings and The Fabulous.
Cha Woo-min plays Ji Eun Ho, a top star active in films, dramas, and variety shows. He is Na Bo-bae’s number one fan, a devoted man who has eyes only for her. His presence creates a love triangle as Ho-rang and Bo-bae grow closer.
Jung Jae Kwang plays Choi Do Yoon, TS Group’s troublemaker and Baek Ho-rang’s cousin. He has a peculiar rivalry with Ho-rang and constantly provokes him. Shin Do Hyun plays Han Seol Hee, the head of Hanlim Planning, a determined woman who will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. These characters add tension to both the romantic and corporate sides of the story.

Kim Young-kwang and Chae Soo-bin have shared playful stories about filming together. In an interview, Chae Soo-bin revealed that Kim Young-kwang struggled with the cheesy lines typical of web novel-style romantic comedies. She said, “(Kim Young Kwang) is having a hard time. I’ve gotten a bit used to the cheesy web novel-style lines,” adding, “He’s been doing serious genres for so long, so even when he says, ‘This line isn’t that bad,’ he still reacts like, ‘Ah, this is too much.’”
Chae Soo-bin also shared a funny behind-the-scenes habit of her co-star. “After shooting a sweet scene, the moment they yelled cut, he would suddenly throw me with a body slam,” she recalled with a laugh. Kim Young-kwang admitted the body slams came from embarrassment. “It feels so awkward. Once I get fully immersed in a sweet role and deliver sweet lines, the moment they shout ‘Cut!’, I snap right back to reality and think ‘Ahhh!’ and just do a body slam out of embarrassment,” he explained.
Release Date and Global Streaming Details
Take Charge of My Heart premieres on Friday, October 9, 2026, on Netflix. The series will be available to stream globally on the platform, including in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India, and other Netflix territories worldwide. The show consists of 12 episodes, with each episode running approximately 70 minutes. It is rated 15 and up. Netflix has confirmed the series will stream exclusively on its platform, with no other distribution channels announced.

The series is directed by Park Soo-won, known for Work Later, Drink Now Season 2 and Birthcare Center. The screenplay is written by Song You-chae. It is based on the Naver web novel Charge Me Up by Haebeon. The production is handled by NEW POINT and WHYNOT MEDIA, with Netflix distributing. An official English version of the web novel is not currently available, as Haebeon originally serialized the story on Naver Series.
