The Boys Season 5 Episode 7 arrived on May 13, 2026, and it has completely changed what fans think about the upcoming series finale. The penultimate episode, titled “The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother’s Milk,” delivered a major character death and showed exactly how Billy Butcher plans to take down Homelander once and for all.
The episode starts with a stunning moment. Homelander kills the President of the United States just five minutes into the runtime. This sets the tone for the rest of the episode, where the Supe leader fully accepts his role as a god-like ruler. Using Vought’s propaganda machine and fear, he starts tightening his grip on the entire country.
But underneath all this chaos, The Boys put together a dangerous backup strategy. After Soldier Boy handed over the powerful V1 compound to Homelander in Episode 6, the team realized they needed a new way to fight back. The virus plan was no longer working. So Butcher turned to something much more risky.
Butcher Turns Kimiko Into A Weapon Against Homelander
The plan comes from studying how Soldier Boy got his powers in the first place. Research documents show that Russian scientists gave Soldier Boy his power-erasing abilities by exposing him to massive amounts of radiation. Butcher and Frenchie decide to use the same method on Kimiko.
Using uranium and research connected to the Russian experiments, the team hopes to turn Kimiko into someone who can cancel out Homelander’s powers. The process is extremely dangerous. Kimiko gets locked in a chamber and exposed to strong radiation for 30 seconds at a time. Her skin burns and she keeps passing out, but she refuses to stop.
“We already did. And they’re coming for you as we speak,” Frenchie tells Homelander, trying to distract him from finding Sage and Kimiko.
Frenchie stays by her side throughout the whole process. He watches her healing powers slow down each time she goes through another round of exposure. He knows the calculations need to be perfect for the experiment to work. Without Sister Sage’s skills, they cannot get the numbers right.
Frenchie manages to convince Sage to help them. She agrees reluctantly and starts working on the calculations. But just as she decides to help, Homelander tracks them down and arrives at their location.
Frenchie Makes The Ultimate Sacrifice
Frenchie acts fast when he realizes Homelander is coming. He puts Kimiko and Sage behind a zinc shield because he knows Homelander cannot see through zinc. This move saves their lives. But Frenchie does not hide with them.
Instead, he goes into the radiation chamber and waits. When Homelander arrives, Frenchie distracts him by inviting him into the chamber. The two talk briefly before Frenchie pulls the switch, exposing both himself and Homelander to the radiation.
The plan does not kill Homelander. He escapes before the radiation can seriously hurt him. But he does kill Frenchie in a brutal way before leaving. At the end of the episode, Kimiko wakes up from the experiment and finds Frenchie bleeding on the ground. She rushes to him, but he dies in her arms.

Who Will Kill Homelander In The Series Finale
The ending of Episode 7 strongly points to Kimiko being the one to finally end Homelander. She now has the radiation treatment inside her body. If the experiment worked the way Butcher and Frenchie hoped, she will gain the same power-erasing abilities as Soldier Boy.
Frenchie’s death serves as the emotional push she needs. At the start of the episode, Frenchie tried to stop Kimiko from going through with the experiment. He told her they could run away together and start a family somewhere far from all the violence. But she refused to stop because she wanted to help the team.
Now Frenchie is gone. His sacrifice gives Kimiko a reason to go after Homelander with everything she has. Fans believe this sets up an epic final battle in the series finale on May 20, 2026.

The episode also showed Homelander putting Soldier Boy back into cryogenic captivity. Soldier Boy had told his son he wanted to leave everything behind and go to Bogota. But the father-son reunion quickly fell apart. Homelander grabbed him and put him back in the frozen tube.
The Deep also got cut loose by Homelander. Having given up everything for Vought, he finds himself alone with nowhere to go. He flees at the end of the episode, completely broken.
Gen V characters Marie Moreau and Jordan Li finally showed up as well. Their return had been teased for weeks, and they now look ready to play a big role in the final episode.
The series finale of The Boys Season 5 drops on Amazon Prime Video on May 20, 2026. For viewers in the USA, the episode arrives at 12:30 PM PT / 3:30 PM ET. UK fans can watch at 8:30 PM BST.
