A Hulu subscription costs $11.99 per month for the ad-supported plan. New subscribers can get a 30-day free trial. The Disney+ and Hulu bundle starts at $12.99 per month, which saves about 46 percent compared to buying both services separately.

For viewers in Canada, the UK, Australia, and India, the show streams on Disney+ through the Star brand. The release time remains the same globally, adjusted for local time zones.

What Happens in Episode 4

The official synopsis for Episode 4 says, “As the Green girls gather for a tea party, Daisy struggles to keep on task, while Agnes begins to understand what being a woman in Gilead means.”

Episode 3 ended with Daisy remembering her past in Toronto. A school trip incident triggered memories of violence and her life before Gilead. The show takes place roughly four years after the ending of The Handmaid’s Tale, when June led a rebellion in Boston.

June Osborne Returns in The Testaments

Fans were surprised to see Elisabeth Moss reprise her role as June Osborne at the end of Episode 1. One viewer wrote on X:

“Yeaaaahhh my girl June is back and ion think she coming to play with nobody in Gilead.”

Another fan posted:

“OMG I FREAKED WHEN I SAW JUNE AT THE END OF EPISODE 1!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH.”

Series creator Bruce Miller explained why June appears in the sequel. He told The Hollywood Reporter:

“There’s an aspect of superhero to June that we wanted to have in this, because her shadow is over the whole show. She’s looming over the whole thing.”

Miller also said, “June would always be in this show. It’s a show about her daughter, and she certainly would be very curious about what happened and would be as influent in that life as she could be.”

Agnes, one of the main characters, is actually Hannah, the daughter June and Luke left behind in Gilead.

Cast of The Testaments

The main cast includes:

  • Chase Infiniti as Agnes
  • Lucy Halliday as Daisy
  • Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia
  • Mabel Li
  • Amy Seimetz
  • Rowan Blanchard
  • Brad Alexander

Ann Dowd returns as Aunt Lydia, a role she played throughout The Handmaid’s Tale. Her character has a complicated history in Gilead, and the new series explores her role at the preparatory school for future wives.

About The Show

The Testaments is based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel of the same name. The story follows young teens Agnes, who grew up in Gilead, and Daisy, a newcomer from Canada. They meet at Aunt Lydia’s elite preparatory school, where girls learn to become wives.

The official synopsis says the series is “a dramatic coming-of-age story set in Gilead” where the bond between Agnes and Daisy “becomes the catalyst that will upend their past, their present, and their future.”

Unlike the book, which is set 15 years after The Handmaid’s Tale, the TV show takes place only four years after the original series ended.

How to Stream The Testaments for Free

New subscribers can watch The Testaments for free using the 30-day Hulu trial. This gives enough time to watch all 10 episodes as they release.

The DirecTV MyEntertainment Genre Pack also includes Hulu and Disney+. It offers a five-day free trial, then costs $34.99 per month.

Episode 4 Expectations

Episode 4, titled “Green Tea,” focuses on a tea party for the Green girls. Daisy has trouble following the rules, while Agnes learns more about what Gilead expects from women. Given the show’s history, this episode will likely show more of the strict rules and punishments in Gilead.

Previous episodes set up the world well. Episode 1 introduced Aunt Lydia’s academy. Episode 2 showed Agnes going through coming-of-age rituals while Daisy faced Gilead’s discipline system. Episode 3 revealed Daisy’s past in Toronto through a traumatic incident on a school trip.

The Testaments continues Wednesdays on Hulu through May 27, 2026.
