Hitman 2, the comedic action film, held a press conference on the afternoon of the 15th at CGV Yongsan in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Choi Won-seop and the cast, including Kwon Sang Woo, Jung Joon Ho, Lee Yi Kyung, Hwang Woo Seul Hye, and Kim Sung Oh, were present. The movie follows Jun (Kwon Sang Woo), a former webtoon writer turned accidental criminal due to his ambitious new project.

Jun’s Comedic Troubles Return

In the first film, Hitman, Kwon Sang Woo played a legendary assassin who became a successful webtoon writer after drunkenly creating a top-secret comic. Hitman 2 continues Jun’s story as he pursues his dream of becoming a blockbuster writer.

Kwon Sang Woo praised Hwang Woo Seul Hye’s acting, with whom he shares the screen again. He said,

Hwang Woo Seul Hye’s delivery and atmosphere are unparalleled. I don’t laugh much on set, but during the NIS scene, I couldn’t stop laughing because of Seul Hye.

Kwon Sang Woo had previously hinted that his character would face even more comedic beatings from Hwang Woo Seul Hye. In Hitman 2, her character delivers both strong language and an action-packed scene where she repeatedly hits Jun’s head after his secret is revealed.

Kwon Sang Woo joked about these scenes, saying,

The movie could have been rated 12+, but it became 15+ because I got beaten so much. I actually got hit more than in the first film, but I was happy because I thought the audience would enjoy it. I hope the ‘Hitman’ series does well so I can continue working with Seul Hye.

Hwang Woo Seul Hye expressed her thanks, stating,

Even though he gets hit a lot, Kwon Sang Woo always compliments me, which really helped while filming. I’ve also learned a lot from his professionalism and consideration. If we appear as a couple in Season 3, I trust the director will give me another chance. I worked hard, and I’m ready for Season 3!

Lee Yi Kyung added humor by commenting on one particular scene:

From a witness’s perspective, Hwang Woo Seul Hye really went for it. You could hear ‘thud’ and ‘thud,’ which made it feel more realistic and heightened the chemistry.

Jung Joon Ho also joked,

Usually, actresses feel sorry when they have to hit someone, but she went so hard that I thought, ‘Isn’t this too much?’

Choi Ji Woo’s Special Appearance

A surprise cameo by Choi Ji Woo also drew attention. Kwon Sang Woo, who worked with Choi Ji Woo in Stairway to Heaven (2003) and Temptation (2014), got her to make a special appearance.

Director Choi Won Seop expressed his gratitude:

Kwon Sang Woo personally convinced her to join, and she readily agreed.

Kwon Sang Woo added:

It’s not easy to ask someone for a cameo, but Choi Ji Woo made it feel effortless. I’m so grateful she agreed over a phone call.

Hitman 2 will premiere in theaters nationwide on January 22, 2025.
