South Korea’s entertainment scene is buzzing with excitement, and this week, MBC’s drama “When the Phone Rings” is ringing in at number one!
Good Data Corporation, a company that tracks viewership data and social media buzz, released its weekly rankings for the most buzzworthy dramas and actors. “When the Phone Rings” not only stole the show for the dramas, but its lead actor, Yoo Yeon Seok, also grabbed the top spot for actors!
Yoo Yeon Seok, who plays Baek Sa Eon in the drama, captured the hearts of viewers this week, propelling him to the number one position. His co-star, Chae Soo Bin, who portrays Hong Hee Joo, also climbed the ranks, landing at a well-deserved number three spot.
JTBC’s historical romance drama, “The Tale of Lady Ok,” trailed closely behind “When the Phone Rings” at number two on the drama list. The show’s lead actress, Lim Ji Yeon, playing the titular role, secured the number two spot for actors, just edging out Chae Soo Bin. Choo Young Woo, the leading man of “The Tale of Lady Ok,” also impressed audiences, ranking as the fourth most buzzworthy actor this week.
Historical romances seem to be a hit with viewers lately, with Channel A’s new drama “Check In Hanyang” making a strong debut at number five on the drama list.
Other popular dramas this week included returning favorites like SBS’s action drama “The Fiery Priest 2” at number three and tvN’s “Love Your Enemy” at number four. The lead actors of “Love Your Enemy,” Ju Ji Hoon and Jung Yu Mi, didn’t disappoint either, ranking at number five and six on the actor list, respectively. Kim Nam Gil, the star of “The Fiery Priest 2,” held his own at number seven.
