The Marvel series on Disney+ has been bringing back familiar faces from the Netflix era. Daredevil: Born Again already brought back Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as Punisher. Season 2 just added Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones. Set photos also confirm Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) will appear in Season 3. With so many heroes returning, fans have one big question: Where is Elektra?

The Greek assassin played by ร‰lodie Yung was a major part of the original Daredevil show. She was Matt’s college girlfriend and a highly skilled fighter. Her story ended in The Defenders, where she seemed to die in a collapsing building. Unlike Matt, who was shown alive later, Elektra’s body was never found. This leaves the door open for her return.

Showrunner Keeps Elektra on His Wish List

Dario Scardapane, the showrunner for Daredevil: Born Again, recently spoke about the chances of bringing Elektra back. He did not say no. In an interview with Nexus Point News, Scardapane explained how the writing team decides on characters. He said they look at famous comic book stories and keep a list of characters they want to use.

“The best way I could put this without giving too much away is that what we do when we’re in the writer’s room is we go and look at some of the iconic comic book runs. We look at a lot of the things that seem to make sense in the story that we’re moving forward, and then when the time comes to bring a character in or to add a storyline, we have our wish list. Everybody you have mentioned so far is on that wish list.”

Scardapane continued by talking about the tone of the new show. He said it feels very similar to the work of writer Frank Miller, who made the Daredevil comics darker and more famous. He noted that many of the characters fans ask about fit perfectly into that world.

“The world that we’re doing with this show is very Frank Miller-esque, for lack of a better word. Chip [Zdarsky] and [Brian Michael] Bendis, those artists and writers, they have a very kind of particular tone and a particular sweet spot, and a lot of the characters that you’ve mentioned work in that sweet spot. So that was my roundabout way of saying I would love to, but I’m not gonna answer specifically.”

His answer is not a confirmation, but it is also not a rejection. He clearly wants fans to know that Elektra is someone the team thinks about.

Actress Reacts to Fan Support for a Comeback

While the showrunner plays it safe, the actress herself is sending clear signals. ร‰lodie Yung recently posted a gym selfie on Instagram with the caption “New goals ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘.” Fans quickly flooded the comments section. They asked Marvel to bring her back as Elektra.

Yung noticed the excitement. She replied to the fans, writing, “Ooooh You guys really want my Elektra back โค๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ I love it ๐Ÿ˜ˆ.” This response made fans even more hopeful.

Earlier, in 2024, Yung had a short answer for a fan who asked where Elektra was. She simply said, “Ask them!” referring to the Marvel bosses. In a 2020 interview, she talked about her love for the role. She said, “Oh my God, I would love to [return]. Especially since they’ve adjusted my costume. I would love toโ€ฆ She’s got a lot of villain in her, and that I can relate to, and also a lot of good. It’s such an amazing character. I would love for Marvel to bring her back.”

Rumors and Production History

There were rumors in late 2024 that Yung had already filmed scenes for Daredevil: Born Again, possibly for episodes 6 or 7. However, the show went through a major creative change. Original episodes were thrown away, and the team started over to connect more with the Netflix series. Because of this change, it is not clear if those filmed scenes still exist or will be used.

What This Means for the Story

Bringing Elektra back makes sense for the story. She was last seen as the “Black Sky,” a weapon for the Hand. She and Matt were buried under a building. Matt survived. Many fans believe she did too.

The Marvel team has already said Daredevil: Born Again is a multi-season show. Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, wants the show to run for years. Executive producer Sana Amanat also confirmed that the idea of bringing Elektra and the Hand into the story is “in the back of our heads.” She added, “Eventually, we’ll try to figure out a bit more with that.”

For now, fans will have to wait. The show is slowly rebuilding the world of The Defenders. Since Jessica Jones is already back, and Luke Cage and Iron Fist are on the way, Elektra seems like the missing piece of the puzzle.
