The ABC drama Will Trent delivered another intense hour on April 7, 2026, with Season 4 Episode 14 titled “A Flag in the Mud.” This episode threw the team into a terrifying hospital hostage situation that split the group between those trapped inside and those fighting from the outside.
The episode starts with Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez) taking his partner Nico (Cora Lu Tran) to the hospital after a kitchen accident with a mandoline slicer. There, he runs into Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen) and her husband Dr. Seth (Scott Foley), who are there for a routine maternity checkup. What begins as a normal hospital visit quickly turns dangerous when a desperate mother named Mekia grabs a security guard’s gun, shoots a doctor, and takes the entire waiting room hostage to demand better care for her injured son.
Main Cast and Characters in Episode 14
Ramón Rodríguez leads the episode as Will Trent, the GBI special agent with the highest clearance rate in the agency. Rodríguez recently finished filming Season 4 and shared his thoughts on social media:
“This cast and crew are everything. A truly special group that shows up every day and bring their best. They inspire me and continue to elevate the show.”
Erika Christensen returns as Angie Polaski, Will’s former partner and current friend who is pregnant and married to Dr. Seth. Christensen has been with the show since its beginning, bringing depth to a character who has battled addiction and trauma while staying dedicated to her work.
Iantha Richardson plays Faith Mitchell, Will’s current GBI partner. In this episode, Faith works outside the hospital alongside Franklin and Ormewood, trying to track down the shooter who put Kevin in the hospital in the first place.
Jake McLaughlin portrays Michael Ormewood, the Atlanta police detective who often works with the GBI team. McLaughlin joined the Army after high school and served in Iraq before becoming an actor. His unit was one of the first to enter Baghdad during the war.
Kevin Daniels plays Detective Franklin Wilks, who was promoted to series regular for Season 4. Franklin serves as Angie’s AA sponsor and provides steady support to the team. His promotion means viewers see much more of his character this season.
Cora Lu Tran appears as Nico, Will’s partner and friend who gets caught in the hostage crisis after her kitchen accident lands her in the emergency room.
Scott Foley guest stars as Dr. Seth, Angie’s husband. Seth ends up in the middle of the action when the drug dealer Osiris attacks on the elevator. Seth takes a knife to the arm while helping Will fight off the attacker.
Sonja Sohn plays Amanda Wagner, Will’s boss at the GBI. Sohn has an interesting background, she is of African and Korean descent and started her career as a slam poet before moving into acting.
Special Guest Stars
Mallory Jansen appears as Adelaide, the mysterious figure from Will’s past who makes a shocking phone call at the end of the episode. Adelaide warns Will that she is coming to Atlanta and threatens to harm his Uncle Antonio if he tells anyone about their conversation.
John Ortiz plays Uncle Antonio, Will’s relative who has been missing and is now being held by Adelaide. His fate remains uncertain as the season moves toward its final episodes.
The episode also features the character Osiris, a drug dealer trying to prove himself on the streets. Osiris is the one who originally shot Kevin, and he comes to the hospital to finish the job, leading to the big fight scene on the elevator.
What Happened in Episode 14
The hostage situation takes over most of the episode. Mekia, the desperate mother, holds everyone at gunpoint while doctors work to save her son Kevin’s life. Will talks her down and keeps the gun pointed at himself to protect the other hostages.
Outside, Faith, Franklin, and Ormewood discover that a drug dealer named Osiris is responsible for Kevin’s injuries and is likely heading to the hospital to kill him. They get word to Angie through a pizza delivery, warning her about the danger.
The action reaches its peak when Osiris appears in the elevator. Will fights him, Seth jumps in to help using Kevin’s IV line, and Ormewood joins the fight. The three of them manage to stop Osiris, but not before Seth gets stabbed in the arm and Ormewood gets sliced on the leg. Both survive their injuries.
The episode ends with Will getting a call from Adelaide. She tells him she misses him and reveals she is coming to Atlanta. She threatens to harm Uncle Antonio if Will tells anyone about their conversation.
