The wait for Marvel’s next series is almost over. Wonder Man will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on January 27, 2026. In a departure from the weekly release schedule used for most Marvel Cinematic Universe shows, all eight episodes of the series will be available to stream at once. The series stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as aspiring actor Simon Williams and brings back Ben Kingsley as the fan-favorite character Trevor Slattery.
Wonder Man Streaming Release Time for Global Audiences
The series will go live on Disney+ at 6:00 PM Pacific Time (PT) / 9:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. For international viewers, this means the show will be available starting at 2:00 AM Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) on Wednesday, January 28. Subscribers in other regions should adjust this time for their local time zone.
The decision to release every episode at the same time is notable. Marvel Studios typically releases episodes of its Disney+ series on a weekly basis. Wonder Man will follow a “Netflix-style” binge model, allowing viewers to watch the entire story at their own pace.
What the Wonder Man Series Is About
Wonder Man offers a humorous look inside Hollywood through the eyes of two struggling actors. The story follows Simon Williams, an aspiring actor whose career is going nowhere. His life changes when he meets Trevor Slattery, an actor whose most famous roles are far behind him. Together, they learn that a legendary, reclusive director named Von Kovak is remaking an old superhero film called “Wonder Man”. Simon and Trevor then compete for what they believe will be life-changing roles in this movie-within-a-show.
Despite the title, Simon Williams is not a famous superhero in this story. He is a regular person trying to make it in Hollywood who also happens to have secret superpowers. Showrunner Andrew Guest described Simon as “incredibly powerful in a way that even he is not fully aware”. The series explores why he keeps his abilities hidden in a world where powered individuals are banned from the entertainment industry.
The Main Cast and Creative Team Behind the Scenes
The series features a talented cast led by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who won an Emmy for his role in Watchmen. Ben Kingsley reprises his Marvel role as Trevor Slattery, the failed actor who once pretended to be the Mandarin. This series completes a trilogy for the character, following his appearances in Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The supporting cast includes X Mayo as Simon’s agent, Janelle Jackson, and Zlatko Buriฤ as the eccentric director Von Kovak. Arian Moayed returns to the MCU as Agent Cleary of the Department of Damage Control (DODC). Other cast members include Demetrius Grosse as Simon’s brother Eric, Ed Harris as a Hollywood agent, and cameos from Josh Gad and Mario Lopez as themselves.
Wonder Man is created and executive produced by Destin Daniel Cretton, the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Andrew Guest, who also serves as showrunner. Cretton directed the first two episodes.
How to Watch Wonder Man on Disney Plus
Wonder Man will be available exclusively for Disney+ subscribers. There is no announced plan for a theatrical release or to air on traditional television networks. Disney+ offers several subscription plans. New subscribers can sometimes find promotional offers.
The official soundtrack for the series, featuring an original score by composer Joel P. West, will be released on digital music platforms on January 30, 2026.

The Marvel Comics History of Simon Williams
For comic book fans, Simon Williams has a long and complicated history that is quite different from his Disney+ portrayal. He first appeared in 1964’s Avengers #9 as a villain created by Baron Zemo, gaining ionic-based superpowers. After a noble sacrifice, he was believed dead but was later revived.
In the comics, Simon Williams is most famous for his deep connection to Vision and the Scarlet Witch. The synthezoid Vision was created using a copy of Wonder Man’s brain patterns. This led to a complex relationship where Vision saw Simon as a brother, and Simon later fell in love with Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch.
The MCU version appears to be a significant reimagining. The show is described as a Hollywood satire and character study that, at least initially, stands apart from the larger Avengers narrative. It is produced under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner, which highlights character-driven stories that require less prior knowledge of the MCU.
Series Production and Episode Details
Production for Wonder Man faced industry-wide challenges. Filming began in Los Angeles in April 2023 but was paused shortly after due to the Hollywood writers’ strike. Production resumed in early 2024 and was completed by that April. The series was officially announced by Marvel in October 2024.
The eight-episode season includes titles such as “Matinee,” “Self-Tape,” and “Doorman”. Directors for the series include James Ponsoldt, Tiffany Johnson, and Stella Meghie, who each directed blocks of episodes.
