Kannada star Yash is facing questions from fans after an old interview came back online. In that 2014 chat, he clearly said he would never do scenes that made him uncomfortable to watch with his parents. Now, the teaser for his new movie Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups shows exactly the kind of content he once promised to avoid.

The teaser, called Ladies & Ladies, dropped recently and immediately created a stir. Many viewers called the visuals “vulgar” and “explicit”. The controversy got so big that the Aam Aadmi Party’s Women’s Wing filed a formal complaint with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission. They demanded the teaser be taken down, saying the content harms women and goes against Kannada cultural values.

What Yash Said in the Old Interview

Back in 2014, Yash appeared on actor Ramesh Aravind’s talk show Weekend With Ramesh. At that time, he was already a big name in Karnataka with films like Googly, Gajakesari, and Mr and Mrs Ramachari. During the show, he opened up about how nervous romantic scenes made him feel.

“People, including Radhika, would laugh at me while I performed a romantic scene,” Yash said on the show.

He also shared a personal rule he followed throughout his career:

“Till date, I follow this. If I am not comfortable watching a particular scene with my parents in the same room, then I won’t do a scene like that. Mostly because it would get uncomfortable for many viewers.”

Yash even talked about his early days in television. In his very first shot, directors asked him to pull a heroine’s saree. He completely panicked. The actresses on set tried to calm him down, telling him it was just a scene, but he kept asking them to leave him alone.

His mother also had something to say about his romantic scenes. She would tell him he did not know how to do them properly. Yash admitted he used to sit in parks wearing a helmet just to watch how couples expressed romance in real life. He even practised romantic scenes with his mother, who would shoo him away.

Toxic Teaser Creates Major Backlash

The Ladies & Ladies teaser for Toxic shows Yash in a very different light. One scene features a woman inside a car engaging in an intimate act with his character. The teaser also carries a warning asking children to stay away. It tells parents and grandparents to keep kids away too, and even suggests great grandparents watch at their own risk.

Geetu Mohandas directed the film, which stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. The movie was shot at the same time in Kannada and English. It will also release in dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam.

The CBFC clarified that the teaser was released only on YouTube. Since it is not a theatrical trailer, it does not fall under their certification rules.

Fans Compare His Old Words With New Movie

Social media users quickly dug up Yash’s old interview after the teaser came out. Many pointed out the clear difference between what he said then and what he is showing now.

One X user wrote:

“But but Yash said he would never do the movies which will make his parents uncomfortable.”

Another person defended Kiara Advani, who faced criticism for her role in the teaser:

“You didn’t say the same about Yash’s family being comfortable watching Yash do all of this. While he himself had mentioned in an interview that he’ll choose roles that families are comfortable watching together.”

Some fans also pointed out the double standard in how people react to male and female actors. One user said:

“Yash is married, has two children, and even had a love marriage with his wife. Yet no one will question him because India is still a male dominated society. Here, it’s only a woman’s character that is put under scrutiny, while a man’s is rarely questioned.”

Another person shared a simple comparison:

“Then – Yash in weekend with Ramesh – I will not make any movies which I can’t see with my parents. Now – Ladies and ladies.”

Radhika Pandit Laughed at His Romantic Scenes

One of the most interesting parts of the old interview is what Yash said about his wife, Radhika Pandit. The couple met on movie sets and fell in love over time. They got married in 2016 and now have two children.

Yash admitted that Radhika would laugh at him whenever he tried to do romantic scenes. She was not the only one. Other people on set also found his nervousness funny.

This detail adds a personal touch to the whole story. Even though Yash felt awkward doing romantic scenes, his wife found it amusing. Now, with Toxic showing much bolder content, fans are wondering what changed.
