Yash, the actor who became a nationwide sensation after the KGF movies, recently spoke about an old comment made by producer Allu Aravind. The producer, who is also the father of superstar Allu Arjun, had once questioned how well people knew Yash before the KGF films came out. Yash gave his response during a TV show and shared his thoughts on what makes a movie successful.
The actor is currently busy promoting his next big film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. During an appearance on the talk show Aap Ki Adalat with host Rajat Sharma, Yash was asked about Allu Aravind’s 2023 remark. The producer had said, “Who was Yash before the release of the KGF movie? Why did that movie make noise? It was that richness that led to the success of the movie”.
Yash Accepts the Truth but Shares His Own View
When the question was put to him, Yash did not get defensive. He openly agreed that KGF changed everything for him. But he also made it clear that making a movie is not a one-person job.
“It is true. But I also believe that cinema doesn’t just belong to a producer. So many people work in cinema, but only the actor gets credits. Be it a character artist or a writer, everyone works hard in cinema, but if an actor is not able to carry it, the film will not work.”
Yash pointed out that while producers put money into a project, the success depends on many people working together. Writers create the story, technicians handle the camera and sound, and character artists bring the world to life. If the main actor cannot deliver a strong performance, even the biggest budget cannot save the film.
Yash Believes the Audience Knows Best
During the same conversation, Yash also talked about the role of the audience in deciding which actors and films become popular. He said that viewers are smart enough to recognize good work.
“I feel audience is right, sometimes I wonder why does actor win all the love. Then I realised despite the pressure (from work), an actor is able to connect and emote through a film, then that does the trick. And I truly believe that audience is never wrong. They respect everyone and are aware as to who deserves to earn more respect.”
Yash explained that actors receive a lot of love because they are able to connect with people through their performances. But he also made it clear that audiences do not forget the hard work of others behind the scenes.
What Allu Aravind Actually Said in 2023
The original comment from Allu Aravind came out in 2023 during a media interaction. The veteran producer was talking about the success of big-budget films when he brought up Yash’s name. He said that KGF worked because of its scale and production values, not just because of the actor.
Allu Aravind had said, “Who was Yash before the release of the KGF movie? Why did that movie make noise? It was that richness that led to the success of the movie. This is just one example. Whoever the hero of the movie is, it is because of the making that it attracts the audience.”
The remark had caused a lot of discussion online at that time. Many fans of Yash did not like the comment and defended the actor’s work before KGF. But Yash chose not to respond immediately and waited until now to share his thoughts.
Yash’s Journey Before KGF
Before becoming a pan-India star, Yash had a very different life. He was born as Naveen Kumar Gowda on January 8, 1986, in Karnataka. His father worked as a bus driver for BMTC, and his mother was a housewife. The family did not have much money, and Yash had to work hard to follow his dreams.
At the age of 17, Yash ran away from home with only ₹300 in his pocket. He moved to Bengaluru and started working in theatre. He did backstage work and even served tea for about ₹50 a day while learning acting. He also worked as an unpaid assistant director for a while.
His first break came with the Kannada TV show Nand Gokul in 2004. He earned ₹500 per day for that role. After that, he worked in several television shows and slowly moved into films. Before KGF, Yash had already become a popular actor in Kannada cinema with movies like Mungaru Male 2, Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari, and Googly.
Even after becoming successful, Yash’s father continued working as a bus driver until his retirement. Yash has always spoken about his humble beginnings with pride and has never forgotten where he came from.
Yash’s Upcoming Film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups
Yash is now preparing for the release of his new movie Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. The film is directed by Geetu Mohandas and is scheduled to arrive in theaters worldwide on August 26, 2026.
The movie has a strong cast that includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, and Rukmini Vasanth. Yash plays a double role in the film, which has already created a lot of buzz among fans.
The trailer for Toxic has been generating discussion online, and the movie is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the year. Yash has been doing many interviews to promote the film, and it was during one of these promotional events that he addressed Allu Aravind’s old comment.
Kiara Advani and Yash’s On-Set Bond
During the promotions, Yash also spoke about working with Kiara Advani on the sets of Toxic. He revealed that Kiara was pregnant during the filming and he made sure to take care of her like a bodyguard. He said he was very worried about her safety and made extra efforts to ensure she was comfortable.
Yash also shared that he was surprised to learn that Kiara had never done a rain scene before Toxic, despite working in Bollywood for so many years. The two actors shared a good working relationship on set, and their scenes together are expected to be a major highlight of the film.

The Bigger Picture: Yash’s Message to the Film Industry
Yash’s response to Allu Aravind’s remark shows his maturity and understanding of how the film industry works. He did not dismiss the producer’s comment or start a fight. Instead, he used the opportunity to talk about the importance of teamwork in filmmaking.
He made it clear that cinema is not just about producers or actors. It is a collective effort where every person contributes something valuable. Writers, directors, technicians, and character artists all play a part in making a movie successful.
Yash also reminded everyone that the audience is the final judge. No matter how much money is spent on a film, it is the viewers who decide whether it works or not. He said that audiences are never wrong and they know exactly who deserves their love and respect.
This is not the first time Yash has shown humility. He recently recalled how KGF: Chapter 1 clashed with Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero at the box office. Even though KGF performed better, Yash said he never felt bigger than Shah Rukh Khan and called himself a fan of the senior actor. He said his career would be over the day he started believing he was superior to his seniors.
Yash’s grounded nature and respect for his colleagues have earned him a lot of admiration from fans and industry people alike. His reaction to Allu Aravind’s comment is another example of why he is one of the most respected actors in Indian cinema today.
