The popular K-drama Yumi’s Cells Season 3 is finally here, and viewers are excited to see Kim Go-eun return as the beloved romance novelist. The show premiered on April 13, 2026, bringing back the unique animated cell village inside Yumi’s head.

After four years, the third and final season continues Yumi’s journey. She has now achieved her dream of becoming a published writer. But her personal life feels empty, and her love cells have gone quiet. That changes when a new man enters her life.

Here is everything you need to know about who plays whom in the new season of this hit TVING series.

Kim Go-eun Returns as the Heart of the Show

Kim Go-eun reprises her role as Kim Yumi, the ordinary office worker turned successful romance novelist. Now in her 30s, Yumi has reached her career goals. But success came with a cost. Her inner cell village, once full of energy, has become dull and inactive.

The actress is well known for her roles in major K-dramas like Goblin and The King: Eternal Monarch. She brings warmth and relatability to Yumi, a character many viewers connect with. In Season 3, Yumi faces new romantic challenges when a younger editor enters her workplace.

Speaking at a press conference, Kim Go-eun shared her thoughts on ending the series.

“As an actor, spending this much time with one character is a rare and meaningful experience. I hope to portray the turning points in Yumi’s life with care and warmth in season 3. This journey with Yumi began back in 2021.”

Kim Jae-won Joins as Yumi’s New Love Interest

Kim Jae-won plays Shin Sun-rok, the new supervising producer at Yumi’s publishing company. He is younger than Yumi and has a very logical and reserved personality. Unlike Yumi, who follows her emotions, Sun-rok prefers clear boundaries and rational thinking.

This new character shakes up Yumi’s quiet life. His blunt feedback and unpredictable behavior confuse her but also awaken feelings she thought were gone. The two have opposite personalities, which creates tension and excitement.

Kim Jae-won previously appeared in Netflix’s The Art of Sarah and K-dramas like Hierarchy and King the Land. Interestingly, he worked with Kim Go-eun before in the 2025 Netflix drama You and Everything Else.

Returning Faces From Previous Seasons

Several familiar actors are back to support Yumi in her new chapter.

Jeon Seok-ho returns as Ahn Dae-yong, the editor who recognized Yumi’s talent and helped her become a writer. He continues to play a key role in her professional life. His warm presence offers stability as Yumi navigates new challenges.

Mi-ram is back as Kang Yi-da, Yumi’s closest friend. She remains a steady source of support, listening to Yumi’s worries and cheering her on through every high and low.

Lee Yoo-bi also returns as Lee Ruby, adding her energy to the series.

New Additions to the Cast

Choi Daniel joins the season as Kim Joo-ho, a character not found in the original webtoon. He plays a popular author at Julie Publishing who is confident and outgoing. Joo-ho approaches Yumi in a different way than Sun-rok, creating an interesting love triangle.

The director Lee Sang-yeop said Choi Daniel was the perfect choice for this role. The character has the sharpness of a writer but is also funny and likes to get involved in other people’s business.

Cho Hye-jung, daughter of actor Jo Jae-hyun, plays Baek Na-hee. She is Yumi’s assistant writer and brings lively energy to the office.

Park Se-in appears as PD Jang, Yumi’s managing producer who helps with her writing projects.

Sung Ji-ru plays Kim Man-sik, rounding out the supporting cast.

Release Details and Viewer Response

Yumi’s Cells Season 3 has a total of 8 episodes. The first two episodes dropped on April 13, 2026. Two new episodes release every Monday on TVING in South Korea at 6 PM KST. The show also airs on tvN every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 PM KST.

Global audiences can watch the drama on Viki and HBO Max in select regions. The finale is scheduled for May 4, 2026.

The season opened to strong numbers. It ranked first in TVING’s paid subscriber count after release. The first episode on tvN scored an average rating of 2.3%, which put it at the top of its time slot for cable channels.

Viewers are already sharing positive reactions online. Comments include “It’s genuinely fun” and “Watched the second episode in an instant.” Many fans say the show was worth the four-year wait.

What Makes This Season Different

Season 3 focuses on Yumi as a successful writer. But her success did not bring happiness. Her cell village, once full of different emotions, has become quiet. The Love Cell, Emotional Cell, and other characters inside her head are barely active.

The arrival of Sun-rok changes everything. He represents a new type of romance for Yumi. He is not her usual type. He is younger, more logical, and does not express feelings easily. This creates a love-hate dynamic that viewers find fresh and exciting.

The show keeps its unique storytelling style. Animated cells representing Yumi’s emotions appear throughout each episode. They react to her experiences and influence her decisions. This mix of live-action and animation remains a big reason why fans love the series.

Director Lee Sang-yeop returns to lead the season, with writers Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran also coming back.
